Sure! Kaya lang baka OT.. sorry mods...

Will just concentrate on the ride comfort based on my experience with the ff. vehicles.. Here it goes..

2007 Ford Everest 4x2 AT - Matagtag talaga.. aalog-alog kaya masaakit sa katawan.

2008 Mitsubishi Montero 4x4 AT - suprisingly soft suspension for a 4x4 but nonetheless still a bit matagtag (kasi nga dahil 4x4).. ride is definitely much better than the Everest. Plus, the driver's seat.. I really like how it is adjustable (fully automatic) kaya very comfortable.

2011 Alterra U.C. 4x2 AT - initial impression on the ride is softer compared to when the montero was still new back in 2008. But I guess we really shouldn't compare 4x4 against a 4x2 as it will not be an apple to apple comparison.

But for ride comfort, the best so far for me is Innova V ko dati.. just my opinion though..

Hi mga sirs! newbie po sa forum na ito.
Ive been wanting to buy a new suv this year.(sold our everest). Been reading a lot of threads about fortuner montero, sf and the others. My first choice was the fortuner however there was a rumor that it will release a new model this year thats why im still waiting for it.

Isuszu never entered in my consiousness because the crosswind in the 1st place did not suit my family. Then i found out that alterra was in exixtence. Got curious and upon reading a thread about the alterra, ive decide that it would be best for my family. I was so exited to go to a dealer this saturday upon reading in the news paper about isuzu promo. However a thread in this forum posted by hinDMAXiado that there will be a new alterra UC to be released late this year or early nextyear which the 2006 engine VGT something will be used.
Can somebody in this forum confirm this? Uncle nick and sir Benzmizer you have been helpful in my research about this SUV. Thank you po. Need the advice of the gurus here before i go to a dealer. ( sorry po kung out of topic ito?)

I firmly believe that only top people at Isuzu could answer your question concerning an engine upgrade for the Alterra/Dmax line in the near future.

An opinion, is all I can give -Sorry!

The present engine used (3.0 liter) works better than most other makes, and is also more reliable as proven in forums.....at least for The Philippines roads and "unpredictable" fuel quality offered and used.

It may be some years before we, in The Philippines get to enjoy the "better" engine.....but....there is nothing wrong, with the present offering.

I do not expect an improved engine any time soon----because it does not NEED improvements.

As you know, if you buy a new phone or computer, something else or better might come along later. The same holds true for cars and trucks. But, do you prefer a bird in hand or two birds in the bush?

Take an Alterra for a test ride, and don't forgert to sit in the back seat, tilt it and stretch your legs.

Once you have done that, try any other make.

I really did a lot of research, I have automotive background and I bought an Alterra 4x4 because it has a limited slip differential.

My Alterra is not as fast as a Fortuner or Montero, but I could wave to them when they stop to fuel up or get repairs and I keep on going.

I am most happy with my Alterra purchase.

    Ciao!

    Uncle Nick.

Chief, no news yet as regards to the "3.0 iTEQ VGS Turbo" engine, although Isuzu-Inteco dealership reassures us Isuzu afficionados that they are trying everything to have that engine here in Philippines, finally.

Just my friendly advice and i take it that a lot of Isuzu fans here may not like it ---- i believe you deserve a better one than our current Alterra "3.0 Ddi-iTEQ", and i believe so in making the most value out-of-your own hard-earned money, like the rest of us here, as car consumers....

That's why before you consider buying an Alterra, please do yourself a favour by checking out and test-driving a Hyundai Sante Fe R eVGT. Chances are after test-driving one, you will never look into an Isuzu Alterra, nor a Fortuner, nor a Monterosport. It's that how good it is, PERFORMANCE-WISE (engine output - 197 metric-hp and 435 Nm torque from 1800 rpm to 2500 rpm, high-speed straight-line stability, high-speed maneouvreing and cornering), besides the fact that SAFETY-WISE, the Santa Fe garnered the highest Euro NCAP points, 5-star rating in terms of passenger safety upon impact.

i have since proven my prior prejudism on Korean-mades to be utterly wrong, given by my prior experience on them (Kia small trucks in late 1990's back in my days in Mindanao).
....AND yes, i have driven Hyundai Santa Fe eVGT's, the prior and latest model R eVGT, that's why i'm just suggesting you may so, 'coz you might turn out to be grateful that you did....

    Goodluck on your choice!

    Kind regards.

Here's my updated take after alternately driving the vehicles for 2 weeks:

    1. Suspension - I would have to say that I like Montero's coil springs better than the Alterra's torsion bar and leaf spring combo.. dunno but now I feel the ride/bounce of Montero is a tad bit softer, more comfortable and gentle compared to that of the Alterra and Everest... The Everest however is still last in this category (not even close to the Alterra).
    2. NVH - Montero and Everest has better NVH management than Alterra imo. Alterra's vibration inside is not so good.. the seats vibrate on rough roads.. gives you the impression that it is not solidly built.
    3. FC and Entertainment System - Nowt this is where the Alterra scored big compared to Montero and Everest.. Alterra hands down winner!

Sorry mods for the OT.. just thought of updating my previous post above.

    Ciao!
