mas reliable kse ang 4jg2 and baka mahirap pa mag hanap nung 4JX1-TC na engine, and for sure super mahal pa
trup, i think subic 4jg2's(belt) are different from local 4jg2(chain)? alin dun? di ko rin sure kung available yung both sa surplusan?
not sure also about the local djerms. maybe you r right. ang sure ko lang is belt yung subic(teka ask ko garyq).
gear driven ang timing ng local and jdm 4jg2 isuzu engine. Just like TD42 and heavy equipment engines, heavy duty ang design nyan.

Sa lahat ng makina ng trooper, LOCAL 4JG2-TC and pinaka reliable.

>Injection pump is not electronic, hindi maselan madaling pa repair. Imported 4JG2 electronic. Walang cable from the accelerator. Electronic wires ang delivery.
>Turbo niya ay matibay, hindi masyadong na dadamage. Alagaan mo lang yung hose ng oil and especially ang water.
Malakas ang 4JX1 kasi nga twin cam but...

Thanks for your inputs. Most of the guys know the setbacks of owning a 4jx1 compared to a 4jg2 but undoubtedly, it has a strong and quiet engine. Kanya kanyang pros and cons lang yan like you mentioned.
Ako biased kasi naka 4jg2 din ako, local version. Do you also own one? Sama ka sa (Informal) group namin. hehe.

Second ko na. Pareho sila 4JG2-TC but the other one has the newer tear drop headlights. Local version lang pareho kaya hindi masyado high tech. Frustrated mechanic kasi ako kaya tuwing saturday ayos lang ako ng ayos. In fact bumili kami ng friend ko last Nov. ng japan surplus na 4jgt just to compare the difference between the local and japan. Later we sold the Injection pump. Meron pang ibang parts, if anyone needs parts let me know baka meron. Kung may probem kayo just post the question we will try to answer. More power to IVEA and hope to join some day.

Ok lang po yon, as long as walang leak. In case, pwede niyo gamitin ang yellow folder, just cut the shape of the gasket then put a thin layer of silicon. Or you can buy a sheet at 25 pesos per feet. Doon naman sa water level ng reservior ok lang, as long puno lagi ang main radiator. Pag malamig na engine babalik yung tubig sa container. Why did you replace the thermostat?
thanks Ramon. pinalagyan ko na ng silicon last friday. so far, ok na yung level ng reservoir. pero observe ko parin mga 2 week pa to make sure na hindi na nababawasan yung coolant. nagpalit ako ng thermostat kasi less than 1/4 yung temp reading ng gauge before kahit matagal na umaandar yung engine. after napalitan naging almost 1/2 na sya at mabilis na uminit yung engine. i got this advice from the gurus here also.Originally Posted by 4JGtootsie

75k kasama alternator, ac comp power steering pump, automatic transmission, transfer case, front prop shaft, computer box at exhaust pipe until flexi hose. Mabait yung seller at madaling kausap and gave us a good price, spare engine niya lang he has two bighorns. inalas namin agad EFI because that is the reason we bought the engine.
wow, pwede ba sya wala efi(i.e. subic 4jg2)? pinatatanong kasi pinsan ko kung sakaling bumigay at malaki gastos ng 4jx1 e baka palitan nya na lang daw ng 4jg2.
Mapapamahal siya, 30-35K ang EFI, nag decide kami bilhin ang engine for emergancy spares like turbo (30k) and the head(40k). Mahirap humanap ng 4JG2 kaya on the spot binili na namin. but i think 90k ang presyo ngayon. Sabihin ko sayo kung may makita ako.
