Need help in choosing a daily drive to and from work and a family mover on weekends and holidays. Company car. Budget is 1.2M

-Must seat at least 7pax (with luggage)
    -Economical (diesel a plus)
    -A/T
    -Easy to drive
    -Good resale value
-and everything else: low NVH, strong A/C, good maintenance history

Initially here are some of my thoughts:

Innova G- D4D: A tight 7 seater though good value
Starex CRDi: A 10 year old design. Poor resale value
06 Kia Sedona: Is the 170 psi CRDi really coming? Poor resale value
    Hiace: No A/T

    TIA for the replys

Try adding another 100K and your budget can fit in the Fortuner 2.7L VVTi - the only thing going against it is the lack of luggage space when 7 persons are seated. Try to stay away from any Toyota that is being powered by their 2.5L D4D engine (see the D4D problem thread).

If you really want to seat 7 people with some luggage space to spare - the Starex is hard to beat.

Starex ako...old doenst mean bad...saka new generation ang CRDi niya and a reliable one unlike sa D4D also ok din ang resale ng Starex

pero check mo din and Nissan Estate

I'd go with kimps. Old doesn't mean bad. And why would you want to cram your family members in the penalty box rear seating of some vehicles just the interest of resale value?

Starex is bang for the buck. It's a proven entity already. 7 passengers will still be comfortable and have plenty of room. Easy to drive also. Commanding view or the road, rear sonar with backing mirror, large side mirrors.

I'd recommend the Starex too. I've always liked the ride height on that thing, samahan mo pa ng 4WD. Tamang-tama pang-out of town or pang-baha.

Starex will fit your budget.... will comfortably seats 7 pax w/ plenty of space for luggage...

Everest will also fit your budget...real seating for 7 pax, some cargo space to boot and a diesel also... and also an SUV by nature....although it looks dated but the 4x4 are a capable off road vehicle and by the way, looks are subjective...

Fortuner is out of your budget but is a very very good option...stay away on 2.5D4D engine though....

Innova with gas engine is also a 7 seater vehicle but will have no space for luggage once you utilized its 7 seating capacity...

Suzuki APV is also an 7-8 seater vehicle w/c is quite below your intended budget...but you if you have a 1.2M budget, you can probably buy another car together with this....

Adventure and Crosswind is another vehicle that you might consider....it will seat 7 pax also but a bit outdated but very reliable ride....unless you get a lemon....

Crosswind will also fits your budget if you want to consider it....

    starex...

its old, yes. but its design was so modern when it was introduced way back 98 (or 97)

sa ngayun pa nga lang ini-introduce yung mga features na dati na meron sa Starex eh..

like CRDi, coil spring rear suspension, AT and diesel combi, minivan configuration, AV entertainment etc.

and the resale isnt that bad IMO.

medyo magkakaproblema ka sa "easy to drive" criterion mo sa

Hyundai Starex and Kia Sedona. hindi easy to drive ang mga bloated vans sa manila traffic. i also drive a van from time to time, and sometimes I wish I had a Jazz or Swift na lang hehehe

so malamang narrow down to innova, crosswind or everest or even the tucson 4x4 crdi pasok sa 1.2M. yun nga lang 5 seater lang ito hyundai.

e ung sorento?, mahirap ung "easy-to-drive" kung i-cocompare mo sa kotse/small vehicle that you're acustomed to.....

for me kung pang all-rounder, starex club crdi...better if you can get the newer crdi 4wd starex club...pero alam ko gray import lang and 4wd starex sa may quezon ave( forgot the name, at kung nandun pa, pero un yong nasa malapit sa pantranco, particularly sa may kantong papuntang proj.8/munoz)

kung if you want space, and travels mostly out of the metro (and may driver), and doesent mind the m/t, d4d hiace grandia, ung "as-big-as-the-coaster"...pero 2.5L lang ata din to,e...just like your top-of-the-line innova...the next alternative to this would be an urvan estate(not the old face, ha..)

AUVs/SUVs...pero nothing beats a van in space...well, kung di mapipigilan, fortuner...crdi sorento, crdi santa-fe is smaller but seat 7...tucson is 5 seater, but a good suv...innova, ok din, pero confirm the d4d problem first...if you dont mind the old and reliable design and technology, adventure/crosswind....alterra, montero sport-->(does this seat 7?), nissan, wala bang papalit sa nalumang teranno nila? masyadong mahal na ung patrol,e...

nga pala, will a new/ "new-old model" previa fit on his budget?for me eto ang the best, matakaw lang sa gas ng konti pero,2.4L vvti, just like your camry...

isa pang pasok, ung mitsu's semi-taiwan-spec spacegear 2.4L gas! or its smaller counterpart, grandis

if company car naman siya (meaning the company will pay for it) then maybe resale value shouldn't be a big issue for you?if that's the case, a CRDI sedona fits the bill. it & the starex will give you almost the same performance & ass-hauling capability except that the sedona handles & looks more like a car, & you wouldn't look nor feel like a 'driver' in one (obvious ba bias ko?hehe)

If you're just a family of 5, I say go for the Tucson CRDI....fuel economy, easy to drive/maneuver in city traffic, can wade through Manila floodwaters, acceptable status symbol as a "junior" exec(just guessing) going to office.

More than 5 family members, Everest...8 seats kaso you'll suffer from poor suspension lalo kung mag-isa ka lang during the drive to the office. Excellent for long weekend drives to the province.

If you have monthly gas allowance.....get the CRV 4X2 that seats 7..excellent resale, low NVH and build quality.

The Tucson is nice, but I think it should be the Starex for the amount of room.

The Everest really isn't a city car, and though the suspension is a step above most leaf-spring setups, it's still not as comfortable as a car.

True, the Sedona and Tucson would be easier drives, but the Starex isn't as big and unwieldy as... say... an Urvan or Hiace. And being based on a 90's Mitsu platform, crash safety should be decent, at least.

And a CRDi version should hold resale value quite well. Still, it's fun to go shopping if you're not spending your own money.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

1.2m? this is inclusive of insurance and registration? i guess isurance will set you back 30k or something, and registration is 3 years which is like 7 or 8k. so, yun 1.2M is like 1.150 na lang hehehe.

kasya ba yun 1.2m sa crdi starex? last time i checked it at hyundai e. rod it was like 1.4 for the crdi, or maybe that was the crdi jumbo gold standard turbo diesel yun 1.2m below variants.

i think 4 rows (after the driver) yun jumbo. an laki! the trim level is also nice as well as the interior appointments(beige interior and cloths, auto climate etc). they also give out a free entertainment package sa gold - dvd player and screens... not sure if its still available nowadays.
