February 22nd, 2011 03:42 PM #11Hingi po kayo ng copy ng service work record or any signed document showing the serial numbers of previous and new transmission. Lahat po ng major components meron dapat serial numbers for traceability.
Its the best way to make sure that the tranny was really replaced because serial number is unique for each major components.

HARI, Your Dealer and You are all Customers of Hyundai Motors.
May simple fix kasi yan.
Kung kumakalas ang gear and considering its brandnew and previously driven for hundred kilometers (Batangas to Manila) the culprit could be sticky ball bearing that locks the shift rail in place.
Ang ball bearing kasi is greased in the factory then tinutulak ng poppet spring.

UPDATE:
As of 3:40pm this afternoon, we decided to visit the vehicle to see what had been done. In all fairness with Hyundai Abad Santos, specifically to my Service Advisor, napakita naman nila na they gave top priority with this case. Although dapat naman talaga dahil brand new unit ito, 67kms and 18hrs palang in our possession.
Yun nga lang syempre it would have been better if napalitan talaga. We talked and I discussed it with my family as well, I really can't spend anymore time and effort with no real assurance naman that we will granted what was due in the first place. Kaya we settled to accept the vehicle back with the new transmission nalang, albeit with a grain of salt.
Pinakita naman yung pinagpalitan daw at yung box nung bagong transmission. Test drove it and all was ok na. Naingatan naman in and out, no scratches nor dents. I just hope that dealers would be more keen and pro-active in checking their units prior releasing them. I strongly agree na dapat may at least 24-48hrs or 200kms, na absolute replacement policy!!
Sa mga kukuha ng new vehicles NEVER be in a hurry na kahit closing na ilabas ang unit in the assumption na dahil bago naman ay wala ng problema. Arrange with the dealer na before complete release ay FULL INSPECTION and TEST DRIVE together with the customer. But still dapat maging SOP ang certain time-frame for absolute replacement. In my business as a Computer Parts dealer, I fully give the 7-30days absolute replacement warranty for our products.
This is not just about satisfaction that is due our purchase but also SAFETY! Like in my case paano kung byinahe ko na ng malayo at naaksidente kami? There's no amount of WARRANTY that can get that back! Kaya dealers and HARI also should learn from this and make some much needed policy improvements!

ANOTHER UPDATE:
Thanks to this forum and the rest of the Tsikot.com family !!
As of 11:30am today Ms. Coleen of Hyundai Abad Santos called me up to inform me that they will replace my Grand Starex with another brand new unit! Wow !!
I would like to publicly commend HARI and the Hyundai Abad Santos Staff (Ms. Coleen, Mr. Archie, Mr. Donald and company) for their favorable response regarding this matter. Regardless of the reason for the change in their decision, this really showed me that they aim for 100% Customer Satisfaction and made the effort to rectify the problem.
I really believe this is an isolated case and should not discourage future owners but rather be informed on what to do if you encounter such problem. I hope maging wake up call din eto for better warranty policies and magkaron ng clear cut guideline against Lemon units (those with factory defects), better Quality Control, and better pre-check prior to releasing new units.
THANKS SO MUCH!! I Love my Hyundai!!
Again thanks to TEAM HYUNDAI PHILIPPINES, H.A.R.I, and the Hyundai Abad Santos Staff!! You did not let me down! God bless!!
