After two years, the battery on my Tucson Theta II GL gave up. Just heard continuous clickin when I tried starting it today. I had a battery delivered and it started already with everything appearing to be normal, but, I just noticed that my check engine light came on. I tried shutting down the engine and starting again but the check engine light is still there.
I didn't notice any change in the drive or performance but it still makes me paranoid that its on. Anybody experienced this before?
sir d2lak dalhin mo sa casa...last week my GLS 4x2 battery was discharged after 2 yrs 4 mos. Used the light while cleaning the interior and after that it wont start. I tried recharging for 10 hours as per instruction on page 7-40 of the manual but after 2 days wont start again nasa labas pa nangyari kaya change battery na. Maybe the antique charger a 12V 10amp i borrowed was not functioning, i should have brought my battery sana sa mga shop as per advise ng battery dealer. On those two occasions where the battery was removed, I noticed too the malfunction indicator and there was a change in the engine rev parang kinakapos at mabagal. You can find the explanation on GLS manual page 4-56 of this indicator. On the 2nd medyo matagal mawala. Nawala lang after reinstall ng program.
I have read previous post that to reset the ECU one has to disconnect the battery cable. To those who have done this, hindi ba umilaw ang malfunction indicator? To those who are planning to reset the ECU by themselves, as experienced, casa nalang pa reset nyo ng ECU.

Sir, I also have a GLS 4x2 na 2yrs and 5 months na today...would you suggest palitan ko na ng battery? Lately mas madalas sya gamitin ni misis so would it be a good idea na huwag na sya antayin mamatay baka sa daan pa abutin si misis?
Also, what brand did you buy? How much? Will I avoid these ECU problems kung palitan ko na agad yun battery?
Thanks in advance!

Mga sir napansin ko sa rear camber ng tucson ko my konting difference ang adjustment ng left and right rear camber, wala bang problema kahit hindi balance, or dapat ko pa re adjust?
* Eli G, Thanks for the advice. Just an update, dadalhin ko na sana sa casa yung tucson kanina pero ng pag start ko, nawala na yung check engine light. I repeatedly shutdown and started the car to see kung wala na talaga yung check engine light and so far, di na bumalik. I also read the manual on the malfunction indicator and it refers to possible emission control issues. Makes you paranoid as any problem in those areas may be costly. Thanks for the advice though.
*BruJuga, I do suggest that you have the battery checked first if its losing power already before you have it changed, but generally, mukhang ganun talaga lifespan ng battery. Mine gave up without any warning. It was working just fine the other day then it just died. As for the replacement, since motolite lang may delivery nung sunday, I had it replaced with a Motolite Gold 2sn (sm?). It has a 21 month warranty and cost me 5,100.00. They took my old battery and gave a discount of 350 so lumabas mga 4750.
They also gave me two other choices, Enduro (15mos. warranty at 4k++) and Excel (24 mos. warranty at 5500++). I just opted with the mid-level since almost two years na rin naman ang warranty.
I wanted to use the original brand (rocket) though napilitan na ako since sunday nangyari problema. Although I heard that Rocket is way expensive than Motolite so ok na rin. Hope this helps.
Makes me paranoid too, it might stall again and might cause a major damage driving with the indicator still on kaya dinala ko na sa casa.
Some says 8mos to 1.5 yrs ang lifespan ng maintenance free battery at lucky na pag maka 2 years.
Recent problems of tucson gls:
1, brake light switch failed again. can shift from D to R or P, no brake lights almost a year after it was changed.
2, aircon won't cool, an isolated incident though
3, door lock stuck the other day but eventually became ok after restarting the engine.
will go to Hyundai shaw tom and i hope they have an available brake light switch or at least they can make it work while waiting for the part.
Hmm, looks like i myself also is having problems with the battery.
Hindi na siya 1 click start ngyun. It appears mahina na yung charge holding capacity nito.
Mukang yung oem brand na from korea is not tropicalized, like the ones na pwedeng mabili locally, like motolite.
Mine is just 1.5yrs lang.
So question is, would i have to go to the process of going to a casa for a reset after changing batteries?
