Hey! The reflash for the V6 doesn't do as much as the 2.0T. You only gain about 5-10 whp as compared to 30-40 whp on the 2.0T. Since you want an AT, the reflash also cannot give you extended rpm like the MT where it's adjusted to 7,200 rpm. But the "lag" as you called it, which improves the throttle response is definitely one of the best things you can look forward to. There were plenty of V6 AT guys who got their cars reflashed and are happy with the turn out. You might wanna ask them how it feels.

If this pulls through, the reflash tour will be held end of May. So you guys know. I'm still waiting for at least 10 interested guys before we can discuss the real sched and all that.

I don't know if the 236 ft-lbs * 2000 rpm torque of the focus had anything to do with that. I just noticed that the Focus started pulling hard earlier than the GC. No doubt the GC had more more on tap had it been longer (and straight) stretches of road. I'm done with top speeds. These days, I prefer multiple romps of short blasts. This is why i'm very interested to know if Hyundai will actually release a V8 version of the GC as has been rumored in some sites for quite some time already. I'd get the Camaro V8 if i had P4.8M lying around, but I don't so the GC it is.

Or maybe there's something wrong with my friends' GC. Like i said, I was actually a bit underwhelmed with it. I mean it pulled hard but it didn't exactly pin me to my seat like I expected. This is also why i'm looking at doing the reflash right away and would like to find out how much gain is achieved with the reflash. I understand a manual transmission would help responsiveness but i'm also hoping it would help address the slight lag when you ram the pedal to the floor.
You're right. In the situation you described, the HGC is no match for the TDCI. Below 120k and twisty roads, the TDCI has everything going for it -- front wheel drive, very strong torque, lighter weight, etc.

On the other hand, the HGC is rear wheel drive. It tends to understeer at the curves. The traction control will slow the car when you hit a curve too fast. But shutting off the traction control also means risking spinning out on the curves.

During our hill climb run from Talisay to Tagaytay, the TDCI's made better time than my HGC. At sharp uphill curves with the tires off-cambered, the inner rear wheel usually spins out first before the LSD kicks in and the wheel gains traction again, losing a lot of precious seconds. On the other hand, the TDCIs just tend to go wherever you point your wheels to without any issues.

The reflash will only add around 8 to 12 hp, at the wheels, to the 3.8. (The 2.0 will actually gain more for it). What is nice about the reflash is that it improves the overall driveability of the 3.8. Power is improved across the band, thus improving its responsiveness. But for me, more important is it raises the rev limit to 7,500 rpm and removes the speed limiter (pegged at 250 kph in stock).

I've got a 3.8 AT. On manual mode, I was actually able to hit 7,200 rpm before shifting. (Still a bit wary of risking 7,500 rpm). Also hit a top speed of 265 kph at SCTEX, northbound portion from Clark to La Paz. I'm sure it could hit more at the southbound part going to Subic.

You may actually want to consider the AT if you'll get the 3.8. It has the same tranny used by Audi, BMW, etc. It's very responsive. Seems to read what you intend to do and does it. If you want "hataw" mode, just floor the pedal and it will go down to the lowest possible gear to give the best acceleration and then just shifts at redline after that (6500 rpm).

I've always been an M/T driver so I tried using manual mode at first, only to find out that the A/T mode could actually shift faster than me. So I just leave it at A/T mode (unless I intend to shift higher than 6500 rpm which rarely happens).

In straights, the 3.8 A/T is actually very good in short blasts. From 80 to 100 kph, floor the pedal and it easily hits 200 kph in a few seconds. Very good in situations when there is light or moderate traffic at SLEX. Just give it a small opening and it will easily leave the pack behind.

Hi LateralD. I'll likely be able to take home my GC next week although there's a slight chance I could gt it this weekend. Whatever the case, please sign me up for the next reflash. Just let me know who's in charge of collecting the downpayment.

First order of business though is to meet up with Henrich to get the wing badges. Who sells the wheel caps with a red trim? Bagay yun sa brembo brakes :D I'd also like to get the M&S front grille but might opt to save up for the Vega 2 instead. Basta siguradong masaya to!!!

FWC, you're the man! Thanks for the info. You actually answered some questions I hadn't asked yet Looking forward to hanging out with you guys someday.

Hi. Any news on the 2nd reflash with Jay this May? If it doesn't push through, i'm thinking of ordering the Sprint Booster product.

Also, are there good quality spacers (2pcs each of 15mm and 20mm) available locally for the GC?

    Thanks

The reflash tour won't push through this May. We will try to shoot for Sep. So far, there are only 3 people interested. That is not enough.

Hmmm, maybe on highway driving, but that FC figure is impossible on city driving. Mine is a Hyundai with a 2.0L CVVT and the best FC that I can get is above 7Km/L in the city. There's no way that I can make it reach to 8Km/L on city driving.

Not really impossible. Even on city driving, my 3.8 HGC was able to attain 10 kms per liter. I actually tried it with one tankful of gas.

It really took a lot of will power and self-control. And I was only able to do it on manual mode. That means a very, very light foot on the accelerator and shifting up as early as 1,800 rpm.

But of course, it was just an experiment and not my typical driving style. Normal for me is 6.0 kms per liter for city driving. That already includes the occasional hataw mode.

Mga sir, planning to buy 2.0T entry gen.coupe. Anyone knows kung saang dealer may available unit? And meron pa kayang nilalabas na yellow nito?(Walang yellow choice sa myhyundai.com.ph)

Anyone care to PM me the best deal offered to them para sa GC - 2.0T, and the SA + Branch? TIA!

Thanks bro, pero what I meant was kung meron pang yellow na choice sa current models kasi updated model na ang GC ngayon AFAIK(interior changes?) Damn I'm a sucker for that color even with varying shades sa pinost mo.

Sana wala nang waiting time to haha.
