    Hello tsikoters.

I'm a beginner driver looking for my first car.

    1. Honda Civic 1996-2000 "EK" Body would fit the bill.

    2. Not sure, sorry.

    3. Pwede.

Since you're partial to Hondas, I suggest springing up to a First Gen Honda City. Low price, low cost of parts, and easy for a newbie driver.

Why not also check other vehicles??

get the 2000 and above model either EK or VTI-s civic...a no - no with 99 model down... ok lang yun mag cosmetic blemish wag lang nag ooverheat yun makina at may problem sa transmission.... kaya bring a trusted mechanic na kabisado makina, tranny, at electronics ng honda para sure ka na ok makukuha mo.

yun mga pang ilalim like kalampag or alignment madali lang yan ayusin .. compare sa overhaeating na makina... kaya dapat hingi ka ng mga 5 days warranty test drive mo hanggang pagudpud o baguio para makina kung ano defects... just my piso

    1. Honda Civics 1993 to 2000 Esi or Vti Variant, Toyota Corollas 1993 to 97 Gli, Sentra Series 3 s/s 1995 to 2001.

    2. Priorities would be the belts: Timing belt, fan belt and power steering belt and water pump. Engine oil and transmission fluid since a/t, then suspension parts.

    3. It is better to repair your unit outside the casa since the unit is out of warranty, you can procure the parts from the casa and have them installed at your trusted mechanic.

Lastly check the papers and the unit itself if it is flooded, mahirap na mapunta ang pinaghirapang pera sa isang sakit lang ng ulo. Good luck and happy car hunting.

Aside from the timing belt, aircon belt, and the alternator belt, also check out the radiator, hoses, for leaks.. I recently bought a Civic and mine have a tiny leak.

Since you're a newbie driver and wala ka mashado alam sa cars, if you have 300k cash, i suggest kung mayroon ka pwede i set aside monthly na 12-13k, get a brand new Honda City na. kahit yung 1.3S na A/T. wala ka pang sakit ng ulo sa maintenance. Trust me, kahit anong 'sariwa' ng hitsura ng 2nd hand, there will always be something that will come up to surprise you while your driving.

From experience, its not only the visible defects that you need to take care of, you also have to always anticipate that something can and will go wrong with a second hand car - some if not most of the time, in the wrong place and the wrong time. I've maintained second hand cars for years and that's my general experience.

    Just my 2 cents sir.

But if on a short budget, try looking for 2001 to 2003 type Z honda city 1.3. Rock solid car and it should fit nicely in your 250-300k budget.

Maraming salamat po sa mga napaka informative na information.
As of the time being po hindi pa ako capable na bumili ng brand new car. Buying din po kasi ako ng a few hectares of land sa province namin (nagpupundar before bumuo ng sariling pamilya hehe), and kung ano man po ang sobra dun eh yun lang ang pwede ko i-allot para sa car.

Mukha nga po na talagang malaking sugal ang pagbili ng used car kaso eto lang po talaga ang afford ko as of the moment, ayaw ko din naman po na magfinancing sa bank kasi hindi po ako comfortable na may binabayaran for how many years, if ever man po na bumili ako ng brand new more likely na cash paid in full ang gagawin ko.

Sinusubukan ko nga po na mapaabot kahit 350k man lang yung pambili ko para naman mga year 2000 and up yung mabili ko na car tulad ng sinuggest nyo.

Yung 250k budget nyo sir +50k for repair is enough for a 2002 Honda City 1.3 yung Type Z.
