    Hi,

I have a 97 Honda Accord 2.2L VTI-S, sometimes when I start it, it won't start, walang redondo, no reaction when I turn the key. I just wait a couple of minutes then it starts up with no issues again.

Battery is ok naman. Lights, radio, etc work fine. I've only experienced it two times since feb 2010.

    What could this be?

I'm thinking, maybe it's the immobilizer bugging out?
Or a dirty starter solenoid or ?

the immobilizer is there so that the engine will not run if the key used has no chip. but still, the starter will crank the engine, but dies down once the key is released.

So your problem could be a erratic or bad electrical contact.

No clicking sound. I do notice the lights (when I have the park lights on) go dim when I turn the key to start it, and thats about all the reaction I get.

Thanks sa replies. Dalhin ko kay Mel bukas with your inputs.

Huwag surplus o replacement.

Any tips on how to check the ignition switch for faults? Thanks!

ito ba sir yung recall announcement?
    http://www.hondalac.com/service/Bulletins/x02-031e.pdf

    Safety Recall: Ignition Switch
    (Supersedes 02-031, dated September 2002)
    BACKGROUND
Electrical contacts in the ignition switch can wear
prematurely due to high electrical current passing
through the switch. Worn-out ignition contacts could
cause the engine to stall without warning. Although the
engine will restart in most cases, a vehicle that stalls
while driving increases the risk of a crash.
    VEHICLES AFFECTED
    • 1997–99 Accord (L4)
    • 1998–99 Accord (L4 and V6)
    • 1998–99 Civic
    • 1997–99 CR-V
    • 1997–99 Odyssey
    • 1997–99 Prelude
Not every vehicle in the years and models listed
above is affected by this campaign. Before
beginning work, verify that the vehicle is eligible by
    checking your campaign responsibility report.

bro mas malamang ignition switch, ganyan din happened sakin. nung open ko yung switch may melt contacts kaya di nag aabot sa start position. madali lang i DIY yan, you can check it on your own

don't ignore it bro, delikado sa hiway yung me problem ang switch, just like what the service bulletin mentioned

Yan nga yun. To be sure, pumunta ka kahit saang Honda dealership at pa check mo kung kasama yang unit mo sa Recall Campaign. Kapag kasama ay dapat palitan nila yan FOC kasi Recall yan at irrelevant kung lumang model yan.
