ito nga ang pag-kakaalam ko kasi ilan beses na din na cover iyong topic na iyan sa hcp. kaso lang w/ the memory i have, there are some stuff i don't dare say w/ certainty
at medyo mahaba nga iyong article re: k-series engines. natanong ko lang din kasi iyan kasi i know almost nothing about the engine of our FDLast edited by baludoy; June 12th, 2008 at 12:01 PM.

Yan kasi mahirap sa FD kasi yung R-series engine bago pa yan and first time to be used in the FD kaya mysterious parin sya for the most of us. But I like the R series, fuel efficient given its 1800cc displacement and tahimik sya...

ang lumabas po na engine sa pinas ay d15a 96-00 (non-vtec). sa d15b series lumabas yung vtec series. lahat ng ph15 (aka d15 and d15a) walang vtec.
with the ph16 naman, isang class lang lumabas and bigalang b series na (b16a engine of the SiR).
im not certain about the k series but vtec-3 is like the 3 stage vtec. it has 3 solenoids AFAIK. not to sure though kasi hindi ko trip yung engine na ito.Last edited by archie123456789; June 12th, 2008 at 11:49 AM.

June 13th, 2008 07:04 PM #16Ph16a engine of 96-00 vti is very much similar to vtec-e.
Normal mode is 12 valve operation (1-intake,2-exh per cyl).
Vtec mode is 16 valve with v-tec cam profile same as us D16Y8, activated at around 3.5K rpm.
3-stage vtec has only 2 vtec solenoids.

ummmm... mali.
malayo ang SOHC vtec and SOHC vtec-e
SOHC vtec it used to be optimized in higher RPM. they share a common camshaft for intake and exhaust valves. then unlike the DOHC vtec it can only be used sa intake. i dont want to go technical...
SOHC vtec-e is opposite the vtec, it is optimized at lower RPM. only one of the two intake valves are open in a very small amount. may sliding pin lang ito to open the 2 valves.
kung similar ang SOHC vtec and SOHC vtec-e dapat mas matipid ito sa LXi version which has no vtec.

^^ where does it state the difference of the vtec-e and the vtec used here (ph16)?
the only thing i read is -->One is the well-knowned VTEC-E which delivered an incredible 20+km/l mileage.
