The 1.3 can handle 150 whp on boost safely (the CVT may be another story)... maybe more if you're willing to experiment and have the time and money for tuning. That's an easy 180-200 bhp. So it should be relatively easy to hit K20 levels of power with the 1.5 MT with a turbo... and best of all, you won't sacrifice low rpm fuel economy with it.

Yup. Not just a swap... a full body-kit... done straight in the metal... it's jaw-droppingly complex work. They spent a lot on that car.

From here: http://www.jazzcityunited.org/printv...?t=530&start=0 (56k, die! die!)

With that much money? I would've stuck a V6 in the back end of that sucker and made myself a Fit-NSX...

K20 definitely looks better without the plastic shroud.

I love Fit/Jazz specially with OEM mugen kits and engine swaps. isn't' Gabbys Fit was patterned to the Fit Dynamite concept?

Yep! Gaby's FITegra was indeed modeled after the Fit Dynamite. But they used sheetmetal and fiberglass to duplicate it if memory serves me right.

The Dynamite's bodykit itself you can get nowadays as the "Mugen Fit Spec-D."

The problem is not the engine... the tranny cannot handle too much power. Once you have gone beyond the limits of the tranny, it quickly starts to give signs & problems.

For CVTs this is still largely true. Nissan may have had success mating its CVTs with the torquey, hulking VQ35DE engine of the Murano, but the belt-and-pulley transmission isn't exactly popular with high-torque applications. (The same is true with VW-Audi's DSG gearboxes---give it too much torque and it suffers.)

However, the turbo'ed Jazz 1.3 featured in Top Gear Philippines' December issue had a CVT, if memory serves. It didn't seem to have problems directing 120 WHP to the asphalt. Speedlab also did the turbo install and tuning on that one.

The owner's already sold it, though...he plans to work on the upcoming new GE-series Jazz next.

consider making it a RR configured car if you want a 300hp engine. cvt wasn't known to handle too much torque after all.

but then again, it sounds like a good idea.
i'd place a v8 in the rear, coupled it with twin turbo, place a large intercooler on front, ecu, side mount catback exhaust, strip the interior and place in an integrated rollcage as engine mount. sure sounds expensive but it's a killer sleeper.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

The CVT can support 120 whp, but they're not sure if 150 whp can be handled over long periods of time.

It's the clutch pack on the CVT that's sensitive... you need to launch very gently and let the acceleration and power build up gradually if you use the power, otherwise it's very possible to fry the clutch packs.
