ang kulit..hehe

Turn the thermostat to the warmest setting that's comfortable and leave it there.

November 16th, 2012 09:43 PM #14in theory, setting the AC blower fan to higher speed will consume more gas because the compressor will have higher duty cycle
higher fan speed means higher rate of heat transfer and the compressor will have to work a little longer to maintain set temperature
however, the difference in fuel consumption will be minimal and will not be easy to determine in typical driving pattern

I would rather spend on the additional litre of gas and be driving comfortably. Either way I will still be spending money in one form or the other.

A lower blower setting means that the cold air spends more time at the evaporator. This means that your thermostat will trigger more often, cycling the compressor on and off more often. A compressor is like a car... Stopping and starting take more energy than cruising. This is why inverter ACs save electricity... They don't stop completely, just "idle" after they reach their target temperature.
But having stagnant air also means that for the same compressor setting and load, you're getting less cooling, and will need to set the thermostat even lower to compensate.
Using a higher fan setting allows the air to circulate completely. This means lower average cabin temperature for a given thermostat setting, which means less workload on te compressor. This means a more even temperature arpind the cabin, which means you will actually be turning the temperature setting up higher, lessening thermostat workload.... The compressor still cycles, but less frequently. There are less uncomfortable "hot spots", and less of the "frozen fingers, sweaty back" effect I'm sure we've felt at least once.
Yes... the blower itself heats up the air if it's set too high... heat is equal to motion, after all, but if you get the balance right, you can get away with a much higher thermo setting than usual. During the daytime, I sometimes have the thermo up to 26-28 degrees.
The most economical really is no blower, no compressor, windows closed, vents open. But this is typically only comfortable in early mornings or at night on the highway.Last edited by niky; November 16th, 2012 at 11:50 PM.

Sa sobrang init at alikabok dito, you won't notice the FC difference between the aircon off and aircon on...
Puwede i try, 1. Palit air filter 2. Linis throttle body 3. Linis MAF sensor 4. Check spark...
high idle RPM at engine start
