    so here's your case:

    ph16 (a non-vtec) port and polished head
    stock IHE
    4 speed matic

*for intake, cheapest best value is simota tube with knn cone-type (around 4.5k sa banawe, tabi ng autocircuit)

*very subtle to no feel on power pag intake lang on stock headers and muffs, lalo na po sa matic

*modify headers and exhaust? depends up to what extent are you willing to up them.

are you willing to remove the resonator? increase mid/downpipes diameters? go free-flow muffs and compromise added noise?

less restrictive exhaust > more hp on high rpm can be felt = more low-end torque you compromise to lose

more low-end torque you lose > mas matakaw sa gas (i suppose hindi ka naman magd-drag, so why need high-end power that often diba?)

    * want silent, free-flow muffs?
ask gh. he has one, customized.

    * better breathing = more power?
not right away, kahit naka port n polish ka pa.

in this case, if you bolt on the knn, you only have more air in. if you run on stock fuel maps, kahit nireset mo pa yung ecu mo after the install, you wont feel much difference.

I have the short ram in my d15b. even after the ecu reset, subtle pa rin ang feel of increased power, if any. (runs on stock headers and free-flow muffs)

    * keep stock H-E and go short ram?
in my case, it's short ram > d15b m/t > stock 421 headers and midpipes (and anything in between) > free-flow muffs

result = I still have lots of useful low-end and mid-end power. matipid sa gas. medyo hirap lang si engine sa exhaust pag near redline na on high, but still it reaches and can sustain 180+ kph

    * ball park figs?

    KNN cone-type with simota tube = P4500
421 crush bent headers (sa fremuff) = P3800
421 mandrelbent headers (sa mufflerland) = P5900 yung aluminized (P13500 yung stainless)

muffs with optional silencer (apex-i copy sa fremuff) = P4500

Sir, advise lang, come to think of this:
Honda sohcs yield relatively high outputs using vtec wildcams on sustained high rpms.

    You don't have both. Why?

    - No wildcams, kasi non-vtec yang ph16 stock engine
    - No sustained high rpms (expect on top gear), kasi it's matic (w/o manual override)

You feel the power gains from IHE mods most especially on mid to high rpms.

Im no honda expert, just my two-cents worth po. Hope it helps

Suggest you save more and get a d15b with manual transmission.
You can get one for as low as 30K, i think.

stock d15bs can yield higher outputs compared to stock, pnp'd ph16s, because of the vtec.

you get an engine with better fuel economy with higher power on your beck as compared to your stock.

    want real power?

    1. aem or iceman intake with knn filter - 12k
    2. full exhaust 2" piping mandrel bent at mufflerland (aluminized pipe with reso) - 12k
    3. jasma muffler - 6k
    4. apexi safc - 6k
    5. wide band tuning - 3k
    6. tranny cooler - 5k

this upgrades will give you real hp gains that you will feel.

    total cost: 44k

    db15 transplant:

    engine/m/t tranny package - 28k
    install - 5k
    a/t to m/t conversion - 8k
    lto registration - 4k

    total - 45K
conclusion: go for a d15b m/t transplant. it will cost you almost just the same with more power and more potential.

AT transmission.. oks lang IHE diyan.. increase HP ..

Had mine done at SMT in Mascardo, makati. 8969243 tell them nirefer kita.

    Headers 4.5k

    addtl : thermal wrap

i/h/e on hondas without tuning might increase your hp. but again, it moves your torque curve higher in the rev range resulting to poor fuel consumption. if your the type that gives a go on every chace you get, go for the mods and be happy with the sound it gives. but, if you use your car for daily drive, i will suggest not touching your engine at all.

you can even test 2 a/t esi, 1 stock, 1 with i/h/e on a drag race. i guarantee you that from standstill, the stock car will win.

You get more torque at the lower rpm band with a chambered muffler. Freeflows only free up more power at the higher rpm range.

medyo mataas pala kung real power... hehe... and i dont want to transform at to mt. una may kamahalan and second its complicated. maraming salamat sa advice sir, it really helps a lot. at least alam ko na yng price range kng real power tlga ang gs2 ko mkuha. hehe. what would you advise if i need slight (saktong) power gain lang and yet mura... based from the persons na sumagot ng thread,,, do you agree short ram and free flow muffler will get me at least slight engine performance increase? if this will work, eto na lang mod na gagawin ko. and one last thing, if nag palit nko intake does my ecu needs to be reset para equal yung bitaw ng gas sa fuel injection?
