Yeah... the "high maintenance cost" myth is crazy. Honda casa and Toyota casa prices are similar, and the new Altis doesn't have parts that are as cheap as the old ones... and the old Corolla had really cheap parts because those parts were cheap... IMHO... you get what you pay for when you buy the cheapest replacement parts... stuff which only lasts a few months before breaking down.

I agree that the "contract" idea is ridiculous but it has its purpose. Depende kasi sa product projection na gusto ng manufacturer di ba? As long as may mga taong ayaw bumili ng "taxi" units, or "prestigious" brands daw, di mo maiiwasan ang ganitong restrictions.

Like in Ferrari's case, you can not just walk in with a suitcase full of money and buy a unit. They have to screen you first so as to maintain their brand image din kasi.

Yeah... but once you buy a Ferrari, you can do whatever the heck you want.

Ferrari is suing the guy... saying that he can't use their badge on his service (Done) or even say the word Ferrari in reference to the car (ha... in their dreams).

Honda doesn't screen the buyer. All you have to say is: "Hey, I'd like a Civic... oh... thanks... will a manager's check be enough?" and you can walk out the door with a car.

As said... all Honda can do is void your warranty for unwarranted use. With other makers, like Toyota, you can get warranty as a taxi operator, but you have to inform them first... plus Honda will not give you fleet discounts for such purchases.

In other words, if you want to use the Civic as a taxi, a police car or a pizza delivery vehicle, go right ahead, Honda can't do a thing about it.

sa probinsya nga dito some use the altis as taxi but here in metro manila vios ang taxi.

may nakikita din akong altis na taxi dito sa metro manila.

yup agree ako. sa like the TS posted the pic yan mga taxi sa taiwan. also saw some mistu grandis,mitsu galant,benz,toyo camry. etc. and mga new models ha.

What's the big fuss about Honda being a Taxi anyway? Like a previous post to this thread has pointed out, a Benz is used as a Taxi in Europe, and other high-end cars to boot.

Saw a Honda ES (twice, different plate #) along buendia that has rizal yellow plates. Parang hotel taxi sya. Sorry but, I have no time to capture it on my cellphone. :|
