the paint job is better done, prior to replacement of brake master. the metal is not paint-sensitive. most of them are iron.
i just clean the booster surface, sandpaper it, brush on rust converter if i have any, then paint it with my choice of color. and as i have no artistic objective, i just use red lead paint.
the booster can last years, before rust eats thru the metal. but once it does, you will rue the day you decided not to fix it earlier.
When was the last time you changed them? If it's been a while, I suggest following your mechanic's...
