between my parents, sister and i we have owned 6 a/t honda vehicles. all of them were kept with very high mileage. none of them needed any transmission work other than fluid changes, and none of them broke down.
the weak points of hondas are their timing belts and not much else. maybe the suspension, but maybe that was because of the road conditions we used them in

we had a 96 civic vti a/t, 00 crv a/t, both a/ts were trouble free although the civic's a/t was very jerky, but thats the 'sakit' of late 90s honda a/ts. the crv was smooth, though not silky smooth since more than 100k kms na takbo nya.
currently our 2k5 gen2 crv a/t 4x4 is still smooth as silk, after 50k kms ran
very satisfied with honda a/ts.
