The upcoming new Honda CR-V will be based on the new Civic platform. The next generation Accord will also use this platform. Known as the Honda world-compact-car-platform. It has a longer wheelbase and wider track. This means the new CR-V will grow significantly. New Civic grew 2 inches wider and 4inches longer.

One reason for the 7seats is that Honda doesnt offer a real 7seat suv in the Asean/Australian markets. This is a growing segment that Honda wants to join in on.

The old wheelbase of 2620 will be probably around closer to 2700mm to accomodate a usuable 3rd row. The new Honda BRV's wheelbase is already 2660mm.

The wider track from the civic will also widen this crv to around to 1885mm like that of the Santa Fe. It is about time the CRV outgrows the 1845mm width of the RAV4.

The FWD version will most likely to get the 1.5T engine with CVT. This is confirmed by Honda CEO Mr Hachigo recently in a press briefing. Acceleration should be under 9seconds to 100kph. The fuel consumption will be best in segment I would assume.

One thing Im concerned about is the low ground clearance. Hopefully this is increase to something close to 186mm like the hr-v. The BRV which is sold in Indonesia has a 200mm ground clearance.

Hopefully Honda Sensing package is available on the FWD version but this is a long shot.

All speculation aside, the US version is to be release May 8, 2016. Mother's day

Bits from CA.au and PR News.
