I got word from someone that the Civic Type R was rated 240+ hp at the wheels based on their dyno test.

240whp is approx. Equal to how much SAE at the crank?

From what I've seen typical driveline losses for 2wd cars are around 15-20% but I think it's different for every car. 240 whp is a lot for such a light car.

10sec worth of YT search yielded 285-290whp baseline vidz.

Well, what he told me was from their own dyno tests. I told him initial dyno tests abroad were getting around 280-290 whp but they only got around 240+ at the wheels.

SRP in the US is around USD 34K but dealers are selling at almost double that. Looks like HCP's local pricing is not so crazy after all.

Mustang dyno reads the lowest of them all, around 255-260whp for the type R.

If He doesnt have a mustang dyno, Id stay away from His dyno shop until it is properly calibrated. ...Or He got a slow type R.

Was really tempted. If not for the manual transmission i would have gotten in on the action. But i heard it sold out 2 days after they opened it for reservations, so the point was moot.

In most tests abroad, the Focus RS is quicker mainly it has a more powerful engine and AWD. The Focus RS is not available though in the country, not even the Focus ST or Fiesta ST.

If the Civic Type R had AWD, it would have been heavier and even slower. Something like 350hp and AWD on a Civic Type R would have made it like the Focus RS. The Golf R in 6MT is slower off the line compared to Golf R with DSG. The RS3 and A45 are on a different league compared to the Focus RS, Golf R, and Civic Type R. I wonder how would the M2 match up against the RS3 and A45.

Maybe something like the old Mitsubishi Evolution VIII FQ400. Its 2.0L engine was tuned to 405hp and its weight was at less than 1500 kg.

    This one?

"Developed with input from tuner Olsbergs MSE, the Rallycross-bound Civic is powered by a purpose-designed engine that sends a solid 600 horsepower to all four wheels. Full performance specifications aren’t available yet, but Honda promises the Civic can hit 60 mph from a stop in just 1.9 seconds. In other words, it’s faster than even the acclaimed 1,500 horsepower Bugatti Chiron."

Honda’s Global Rallycross entry is a 6-hp Civic that does zero to 6 in just 1.9 seconds

    Specs:

    - 600 HP
    - AWD
    - 0-60 in 1.9s

    1.9s?? Damn!! That's crazy fast!

I think I prefer this design rather than the Type R. It looks a lot cleaner, less clutter, more streamlined and sportier. But, not really sure whether they are going to produce this for the consumer market. If yes, this is going to be so awesome!!
