I really wanted Poy to get minutes in the playoffs so he could be seasoned for next year.. he is the likely starting big, and I have no idea who he'll be paired with so he may have a heavy burden to carry. Justin, Salva and Slaughter are all in their last year, right?
poy's most probable frontline partners next year will either be porter or babilonia. plus, i think there are two fil-for kids red shirting it out in team glory b (lasa and tolentino) who may be eligible for next year's uaap wars. i'm just not really sure about that info though w/ re: to their eligibilities - medyo may uncertainties pa depending on the uaap board's mood and discretion next year. alam niyo naman iyong mga iyan and yes, season 75 is the despedida party of chua, salva, slaughter, and oping sumalinog btw, oping is really stepping out of obscurity and laying the law on defense. it's nice to see him swatting out shots like his life depended on it. it's like watching baclao all over again these past few games. since offense usually follows defense, i predict he'll be shooting the daylights out of the coliseum on saturday and beyond ( or thereabouts hehe) obf!
It's Opings last year i think... tama ba? Deym game last Saturday against UST... that was a classic. And yes, that was clearly a goal tending violation by Abdul. Kiefer Ravena's in-your-face dunk made Abdul think about changing his first name to Paula i'll bet.
last year na nga ni oping. i hope he makes an epic swan song in the final four and the finals. the guy deserves it, minalas lang talaga 3 years ago sa pccl injury niya that match last saturday was definitely a wringer. i'd be a little apprehensive to match-up against ust in the post season if ever that happens. their crowd is more animated than our spoiled 4peat gallery and the tigers themselves are hungry for recognition. but still, i believe in coach norman and the ateneo way. obf!
^ Having experienced the transition from the dark ages to the first championship, I agree on your observation with the spoiled 4-peat gallery. The UST crowd are just wild into it... that was how Ateneo was several years ago. I cringe at facing UST in the finals... baka "ma-2006" tayo. I'd like to meet DLSU (or NU) the most in the Final 4 actually. Going against UST is scary and can tire the team, out while going against FEU might result in injuries or suspensions as they're really playing dirty ball on and off the court, and are really out to injure the Ateneo players. I was talking with my Tito last night (he's one of the court side photographer regulars for ADMU) and he said that even the FEU assistant coaches such as Ronald Magtulis are encouraging the FEU players to injure others. He even challenged Nico Salva's dad to a fistcuffs last Thursday.
Traffic on Katipunan was horrendous over the weekend due to the ACET BTW. I even accidentally nicked the rear bumper of a City when i was going into the U-turn slot (using our old car... I had no damage as it was my protruding plate number that hit the other car). One of those rare moments were i suddenly got dizzy due to extreme hunger and just miscalulated, and moved forward too early. The damage to the City i hit was minor (scratch on the bumper beside the rear wheel well) and i hope she lets it go (Birthday gift nalang niya sa akin... hehe). It was raining and we didn't want to cause more traffic so we just exchanged numbers (nagmamadali din yung girl to fetch her kid sa ACET it seems).
mvp's supposed departure sure threw a monkey wrench to all our hoop dreams for the school (and all other athletic dreams i suppose). i never thought ateneo and mvp would part ways in such a manner. oh, well...it is what it is. thanks mvp for all the support! it is much appreciated!
^ Yeah, that's one big loss to Ateneo funding as a whole it seems. Props to the guy for his helping the institution and its time for both parties to move on. I wonder what school will benefit from this... We gotta get that 5 peat now! Mukhang pangmatagalan ulit tayo bago makaranas muli nito.
....and we're back! :cheer3: kelangan maka-ganti sa talo natin nuong 2006! :bruce_lee: kiefer the best! :clap1:
^ Yes, we definitely have an ax to grind, and that dates back to 2006. What worries me about UST is they also seem to get the refs on their side when we play them. Someone told me before that the UST guys have been chummy (or in the same circles) as the refs from way back. Watched the game yesterday and Kiefer just carried the team and Buenafe continued to take the big shots. We really need Slaughter to dominate once more if we want to bag this 5th title. He's been checked pretty well in the last few games, notably when Poy got injured, and he just lacks in athletic moves. DLSU also played low ball by contesting Kiefer's trey which stopped an Ateneo run and gave them "timeout". that stupid ref who also called a technical on Kiefer (when it was clearly not) should be hanged. It would have cost us the game. OBF!
