Bah. Let me share my horror story with Citibank. Happened about 15-16 years ago.

Namatay erpats ko and, it turned out, he had a Citibank credit card. Now, yung CC was a company-issued card i.e. his company pays for the stuff he purchases. Mostly representation expense. When my father died, I think he had about a 10K balance dun sa card.

To cut the story short, Citibank didn't go after the company where my (late) tatay used to work for. Instead, they went after my (late) nanay who was just a housewife. Now, I know yung mga nanghahabol sa mga ganito eh collecting agencies pero ang kinagalit ko sa Citibank eh they didn't do any action to put the collecting agency on a leash even after my family established the fact that it was a company card and yung company ang magbabayad, hindi kami. Kahit na tumawag na sa kanila yung legal nung company where my tatay worked, tuloy pa rin ang harassment. Their collecting agency went as far as sending a guy to my mother's house then accuse my mother of lying and threatened to sue her. This was a couple of days after yung legal nung company where my father worked called Citibank to inform them that they (the company) will pay the balance and not us. Citibank never acted on our complaint of harassment and maltreatment. What's worse, their marketing arm (whoever those were) even had the gall to call me a couple of weeks later to offer me a credit card.

Since then, every time a merchant approaches me and offers a Citicard, I more often than not tell them (politely) to shove it up their *$$.

Eh paano kung na default sila when they were still young I mean bago pa Lang Sa work which often than not ganun naman nangayayari eh what if after a couple of years na promote na sila naging VP etc wala na pagasa ma build up credit nila? Kawawa naman.... Can't they petition the court na alisin yun name sila sa blacklist?

Hehehe

Eh tapos one week pa mag effect eh next day na alis namin.

If you have bad credit card dealings and you clear it up and prove that you have a substantial earnings increase then you should be able to get a new CC. Sometimes there's an ascription period (i.e. 5 years) from the time you had a bad debt.

Same thing with bank loans. If you have a court case, past due loan, etc. it will come out on the BAP list and Court Case checkings but it should not deny you any accommodation outright as this can be still mitigated depending on your relationship with the Bank, if you can explain the circumstances behind the findings, your current financial capacity, etc.

I've always avoided Credit Cards and loan but heck, i still had to get a credit card for practicality sake. Just make it a point to pay it all off at the end of the billing period.
