hehe well sad to say, bara-bara yung driver education dito. highway protocol is not even taught in even the popular driving schools i think
you try to flash someone to move over and what do they do? they become more aggresive at makikipag karera sayo or they bacome passive and slow down further tapos sabay tapak pa ng brake. cause lang ng aksidente. kulang kse ng road courtesy dyan e. saka daming maiinit ang ulo.
I remember when our family would go out of town like baguio during the 70's, drivers then were very courteous. People pull over when you give them a blink and high beams turn low when you give them a blink. Nowadays, it seems that to each his own. Really sad.
so true!there are really few people who can be categorized as reall "good".Originally Posted by zeagle

nakaratrat ka na, siguro naman pati bus ay naovertakan mo na at nakalipat ka na sa right lane..Originally Posted by papao

so it means he came from the right lane, goes to the left to overtake and there you are on the left lane.Originally Posted by papao
i traverse the NLEX at least 2x a week from balintawak to san simon, kaya i have lots of experiences sa mga ganyang drivers. kahit kaya mo silang lampasan at cruising speed, i think you need to speed up a little while overtaking.. and then go back to ur cruising speed upon returning to the right lane.. ang gawi ko kasi, i always turn my left blinker on bago at habang umo-overtake, then right blinker naman pag lilipat na sa kanan. sorry to say this and no offense meant but based on my observation sa kwento mo, you're the one hugging the left lane...
although mali yung SUV for illegal use of blinkers and siren... it's better na pagbigyan na lang natin yung mga ganun klaseng driver kesa maging cause pa ng accident... malay natin baka naman talagang emergency yun at di lang sya marunong gumamit ng hazard lights.. ngayon kung kupal lang talaga sya magdrive, edi hayaan mong sya na lang..road courtesy and defensive driving lang po ang ating pairalin...
raikonen,
sir sa bandang dulo ng nlex nde namn ako pede sa ryt lane palagi, kasi pag nasa ryt lane ako mga trak makakasabay ko..2 lanes lng naman un nandun..i just maintain my speed of 100kph..di ako mkaaktkbo ng 100 pag sa ryt lane ako.and wla naman ganon kadami sasakyan ng mga 10pm dun..
Wala naman sa oras yun eh. Ang left lane is strictly for overtaking only, hindi na lang sinusunod ng iba ngayon ( puwedeng dahil sa katigasan ng ulo, o di nila alam which is no excuse) The basic rule of driving in the highways is cruise on the right, overtake on the left. Originally Posted by papao

papao: Your reasonings are still not valid. May kotse man o wala sa left lane YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CRUISING ON THE PASSING LANE.
The left lane should be CLEAR at all times if no one is overtaking. You mentioned that 10PM na nun and konti lang traffic, lalo na walang dahilan for you NOT to be able to get back to the right lane and maintain speed there. If you must weave in and out to avoid slower vehicles sa right lane, then that what you must do, you're NOT supposed to stay on the left. Period.
In short, this incident is a case of both parties are at fault.
This was in Italy. On the Autostrade (freeway) from Livorno to Florence.
I observed that driving discipline has been properly instilled in these people (at least on the highways, kasi sabi ng iba, barumbado daw Italians sa city streets.
At one point, I was running at 120kph on the left lane and there wasn't any vehicles on the right. I was just cruising...tapos, bigla kong napansin na may nakatutok sa likod ko. I then moved to the right and let the BMW pass. A few kms down the road again, the same incident happened, and I moved over to the right, and an Audi TT passed me. From then on, I stayed on the right lane until I encountered a slower vehicle, then passed it when I had the chance. (there was an MB that passed me after tailing me for a while and gave me a frown, as if saying: f$*&in' tourist)
What I have learned: Drivers there, just tail you (when you are in the left lane) and get real close to make their presence known. However, they DO NOT blink their lights or blow their horns, or turn on their wang-wangs. They wait for you to move to the right (when you are ready by turning on your right signal, kasi di ka naman basta kakabig to the right) and then pass you. Now those gestures made me feel comfortable (driving) kahit nasa ibang bansa ako. Walang bubusina, flashing of headlights or wang-wangs. Di ako kinabahan, but rather, nahiya pa ako. So for the rest of the trip to Florence, I stayed on the right lane as much as I can, and passed trucks and slower cars only when necessary.
(on the way back, though...I was mostly on the left lane along with other cars running at 120-160kph. IT WAS FUN!) btw, it is a rule there that all vehicles must have their headlights ON when driving on the Autostrade.

pparado,
unfortunately, the same doesn't apply here. kung tututok ka lang sa kotse na squatting on the left lane, di ka papansinin nun probably hehe, hence the need for signaling. pati sa US medyo ganyan din, kailangan ng "gentle reminder" minsan, far as i can tell
