when somebody is overtaking, why should i give way when i am following the rules and not swerving? its the one who is overtaking who has to work for it in my book.
Any driver should know what is the fast lane and slow lane. Changing lanes cannot be considered swerving. Swerve at a high speed pace and you're definitely waiting for accidents to happen.
For local expressways we have here, 3 lanes in one direction. Slow lanes 60-75km/h Middle lanes 76-90km/h. Outer lanes should be considered only when overtaking or running speeds between 90-100km/h and sometimes above for emergency situations.
Let's cut the crab mentality here, both vehicles pay for the use of expressways why not follow simple rules to avoid accidents and road rage?
what i do with this people is that i flash my headlights for about 5 secs. or so...
pag di pa din tumabi, i'll find a way to overtake and swerve in front of them...
Giving way to faster and overtaking vehicles is not considered swerving unless you suddenly jerk the steering wheel with the grace of a grenade exploding. And why do you want them to 'work' for it?
You can see me giving way most of the time along the NLEX. You don't even have to flash me, malayo pa lang alam ko na kung kailangan kong tumabi.
Pero kung ako naman ang mabilis (e.g., when I'm running empty or yung mga de-gasolina ang dala ko), I expect the same courtesy.

EDSA is no different...3 out of 5 times cguro palaging me mabagal na truck/jeep sa leftmost lane...e since newbie pa ako...just grin and bear it na lang...and hope the guy in front of me suddenly gets lbm
Dati, galit din ako at inis na inis. Flashing, honking, tailgate... It's not worth it.
It's not that I've resigned to the fact that most drivers are stupid, but it's because I realized my actions don't help either.
Until I can find a way to influence driver education through the LTO or whatever organization, lalampasan ko na lang... Maybe I will note their plate numbers, write a letter to LTO, and hope for action. Medyo idealist, pero kanya kanyang opinion yan.
Of course if I let my agression take over, I'd promptly shoot their tires out. Hehehehe.
No offense, i totally do not agree with this logicOriginally posted by rukawa

What expressways have 3 decent lanes nowadays? NLEX is quite bad right now. SSH is quite bad din from Taft to Quirino ave. Avoiding potholes, rocks or uneven asphalt is hard enough, Then you have to watch out for people who want to pass you when you are at the decent part of the road? Another thing, somebody wants to pass you either by momentarily blinding them by full headlight beam or sustained horn blowing? Sorry but i can not understand why anybody would find this type of behavior acceptable when they're perfectly minding their business.
Headlamp flashing is considered a perfectly normal way of indicating your intention to pass.
That is why it is called a 'flash to pass' switch in most owner's manual.
Everybody has a right to use the 'decent' part of the road esp the faster vehicles.
Even though I drive one of the slowest vehicles on the roads today, I still believe in common courtesy. Yes, I scan my mirrors when I'm on the expressways (it is not that hard to do). There is no such thing as minding your own business because the road is not yours alone to begin with. We all share it and interaction is an integral part of this sharing. So let's just do our part. Okie. Happy Motoring. :D

"There is no such thing as minding your own business because the road is not yours alone to begin with"
Does that mean that if i am driving 80kph and somebody drives 100kph, i have to swerve to give way to him? i would rather let him pass me that for me to abandon my lane.
bago kong motto:
"hindi ka makakarating sa paroroonan mo, kung hindi ka sisingit".... lolz!
No, you do not have to "swerve". You just have to yield. This entails flashing your right turn signal (to indicate that you have seen the faster vehicle approaching) and start to ease off into the slow lane. After the faster vehicle has overtaken you, it is your option to ease back into the fast lane provided that it is clear, you have signalled your intention to do so and that no other faster vehicles are approaching from behind.
Why wait until the faster vehicle is 3 feet from your rear bumper before giving way?
Even at more than a hundred feet away, it is pretty easy to judge how fast the approaching vehicle is. And if it's left turn signals are flashing and the headlights are blazing, you can be pretty sure that he intends to use the fast lane for its intended purpose.
Hogging the left lane is what causes 'packs' to form on the expressway. Big groups of vehicles getting bunched up because there is a vehicle in the slow lane and a slow vehicle in the fast lane running at almost the same speed as the vehicle in the slow lane. This can cause those multi-car pile ups that are ever so popular on the NLEX.

Agree ako kay Otep on this. Thats why its called a "passing lane". If im driving 80 at NLEX and someone is faster than me coming from behind then I yield. Its a matter of respect for the other person who wants to use the passing lane for passing slower vehicles. Remember that the speed limit is 100. If you are doing 80 then then you are under the speed limit. You need to yield to those who are in the speed limit.
80kph is not passing speed in an expressway. vehicles running at this speed should go back to the center lane and let those who are running at 100kph pass without hassle.
dapat dyan sa mga yan binabangga! hehe joke lang. no, iwasan na lang kasi most road rage incidents are triggered by either blowing of horns, tailgating or flashing of headlights. be sensible, drive safe...
di bale katapat lang nyan e isang rumaragasang victory liner or rabbit (Bataan transit), for god's sake iwasan nyo itong mga balasubas na mga ito. walang kaluluwa itong mga yan.
the portion from valenzuela to bocaue is already a 4 laner... me & FrankDrebin go home through this path everyday.Originally posted by bender

btw, on the rehabilitated portions of the NLEX you wouldn't even notice that you are already above 100kph. it is that smooth...
wow, parang sarap ng mag baguio or zambales a...
