eh kung taxi driver ganyan style ng driving eh tlagang maiirita ka. tapos pagnasabitan ka, kamot ulo! hahaha! saka is there such a thing sa pinas na right way of changing lanes?
Badtrip talaga yan... people hogging two lanes and whats worse is that they are slooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, lalo na yung mga calesa and pedicab, pati jeepney, minsan mga baguhan na driver, or those old, very old cars with lots of rust. I just flash my lights or honk my horn a couple of times, pero minsan la epekmga walang road courtesy talaga.
well, sad to say mga peeps, madalang ka makakita sa pinas ng driver na merong tinatawag na driving etiquette. kahit sa pag-oovertake lang, i do believe that the proper way is kung nakapantay na sa iyo ang overtaking vehicle, you have to slow down a bit to give him chance just in case. pero marami diyan, lalo pang bibilisan para malagay ka sa alanganin. bakit ka nga ba nilampasan? either nagmamadali siya or mabagal ka. It's the same with changing lanes. not that you have flashed your signal lights (kung na-ala-ala mo) gives you the right to cut in on other drivers' lane. Road courtesy nga lang talaga ang kelangan natin, which is rare nowadays due to the traffic conditions sa atin plus the rising prices of fuel cost. hope la ako me nasagasa-an dito, but this is just my opinion.
I have to disagree with this bro, pag pantay kayo its up to him to slow down or speed up medyo alanganin ka if you slow down and you might pose a danger to the car right behind you just maintain your speed and let the guy who wants to change lanes do the manuevering. However if his car's nose is ahead of you thats another story.i do believe that the proper way is kung nakapantay na sa iyo ang overtaking vehicle, you have to slow down a bit to give him chance just in case.
i agree. when another car's nose is ahead of you and it's turn signal turned on.. that's the time that you slow down to give him space.Originally Posted by ILuvDetailing

when changing lanes, one should make it quick but safe. never change lanes when the car on your right/left is going at a speed that is faster than you. let him pass before you switch lanes.
actually simple logic lang naman to eh. basta pakiramdaman na lang sa kalsada and a little respect to one another when driving. hindi kasi masyado in order ang traffic condition dito sa atin as compared to the US or other developed countries. wala kasing nanghuhuli sa mga nasa wrong lane na sasakyan (e.g. fast/slow lane, left turn only lane, etc.)
I try to very patient. Pero kapag sobrang hesitant, bina-braso ko na. He is only posing a danger to me [and my passengers] as well as to the other vehicles behind us.
Dapat layuan na ang mga ganun.

sa akin naman when i change lanes.. signal lang tapos kabig na.. kasi pag dahan dahan parang mas dangerous..
Bro,
Methink you've missed my point. Sabi ko, when the other car is overtaking you. If you can imagine a two lane road, another car is behind you, then attempts to overtake you, pag pumantay na siya sa iyo, i do believe you have to give him a little space like slowing a bit (but not stepping on the brakes, just releasing your feet a little on the accelerator will do). Theoritically, wala ng immediate na kasunod sa iyo kasi siya na ang kasunod mo na nag-overtake sa iyo. Now, kung bigla lang me bumulaga na kasalubong, you will not be sure what will be the reaction of the overtaking driver, but most probably he will try to immediately cut to your lane to avoid the oncoming vehicle. So, kung nag slow down ka ng bahagya, you have given him the chance to pass cleanly in front of you and you will not be forced to frantically applying the brakes. IMHO, defensive driving lang, ika nga. Now about changing lanes, I have 3 action rule which I adhere to, that is: signal, tingin, kabig.
i see burjegol. 'salubungan' pla ang ibig mong sabihin.
OT: dapat di sya nag subok mag overtake pag 'salubungan' ksi usually meron namang 2 yellow stripes to indicate na bawal.
kala ko ksi from fast lane to middle lane (safe lane), or from middle lane to slow lane. pero pag salubungan * gusto mag overtake itatabi ko nang konti sa kanan(kung pwede pa)para malaman nya na i'm letting him pass by.
bro kingkaboodles,
do you think marami sa mga drivers natin dito understands the meaning of road lines, the solid, white and yellow? well, giving the overtaking vehicle a bit of space by going a bit to the side is also a very good move (as long as it is safe to do so).
A lot of people don't know the signs talaga. And yet they have licenses ha. And to think my mom made me read a book about driving before enrolling in a driving school. pede na pala kahit nde... daya nung iba. hehehe![]()

Hehehe, I missed the overtaking part. Good point, however you only do that if the vehicle overtaking you is capable of passing you, if not it would be better for the overtaking vehicle to just slow down and go back behind you.Originally Posted by burjegol
sad thing is the common reaction of uneducated drivers is to swerve instead of braking![]()
