March 15th, 2005 09:36 AM #1is it wise/common courtesy to slow down when changing lanes? one time there was this civic that signalled to change over to my lane; binagbigyan ko naman, binagalan ko ang takbo to about 40-50kph. di naman cguro pwedeng mag full stop, 'coz that was EDSA. muntik na kaming magbanggaan 'coz biglang bumagal ung takbo to about 20kph bago nag switch. syempre kandarapa ako umapak sa brake. imho, wala namang danger kung medyo bilisan nya ung takbo -- it was a sunday, at wala namang kalapit na kotse.
another time, nasa likod naman ako ng hiace. it was doing the typical taxi driver trick of hogging two lanes. it was changing over to the right lane(even though walag ka signal signal), so i was trying to pass through the left lane, pero ganun din, biglang pinahina ung takbo bago lumipat ng lane. traffic was very light then, and there was no other car within 50 meters, so nagtaka talaga ako kung baket ganun.

I agree with mazda. It's either the driver mathces your speed or he/she accelerates a little before changing lanes (whe he/she sees you decelerate). The driver of the vehicle you're talking about could either be a person has just learned how to drive or the driver has become too tentative. Being too tentative on the road can cause accidents.

The right way is always to use turn signals (sorry di alam ng karamihang taxi driver, jeepney driver, at kahit privately employed driver, or even the owner itong rule na ito)
To check rear view and side view mirrors as well as your blind spot to make sure you will fit and that the next vehicle will not hit you (or brake hard as you did)
And to merge quickly into the lane and keep pace. When I say quickly di naman jerking pero wag magtagal inbetween lanes...
Syempre gawa gawa ko lang ito.

You don't have to slow down, it will cause more harm than good. I make sure I'm at least half a car ahead before I merge to another lane and sometimes I don't use the signal lights (pasensya na) cuz some moron drivers speed up when they see you about to change lanes.

March 15th, 2005 10:27 AM #10imho in some cases, mas nakakasama kung medyo dahan dahan ung paglipat -- parang nasa alanganing pwesto ka for a prolonged period of time, kaya pati ung katabing kotse e nag aalanganin din sa yo. pero whenever i do make sudden changes, nagsisignal ako properly, then wait muna ako about 1-1.5 seconds before making a move, just to make sure that the car behind me is really giving way.
While ford does not specify a time-based intervals the ZF specifies a 8 year interval for the 6HP...
