The tricycle and jeepneys has as much right on the road as we do and problema lang naman eh yun mga inconsiderate na sa gitna papara na pwede naman itabi. Ano bang problema sa itabi? Ayaw kasi nya na maunahan sya nung jeep sa likod para kuha nya lahat ng pasahero, naghahanap buhay nga sya, eh may hanapbuhay din naman tayo, kailangan din naman natin umabot sa office on time. Napakahirap bang itabi yun jeep o tricycle kung magsasakay o baba?

according to that guy who wrote "the tipping point", the crime rate in NY started going down when law enforcement decided to enforce the law against people committing petty crimes. they arrested the pranksters, the kids who write graffiti, the kids who break window glasses, the shoplifters, the pickpockets, etc because, as they found out through research, the kids who commit these petty crimes eventually move on to bigger, more serious crimes like rape, hold-ups and the like.

letting the public utility drivers get away with seemingly "petty" things like parking in no parking areas, beating the red light, or a few fender benders emboldens these drivers. in their mind they start to rationalize, pwede naman pala e. makakalusot. soon they might move on to more serious stuff. more importantly, it establishes anarchy on the road. kung pwede gawin ni juan (na wag sumunod sa batas trapiko), pwede din gawin ni pedro. never mind that a number of these drivers do not have valid professional driver's licenses, imagine the mind set of a driver who couldn't care less if he hits your car. his ready made excuse, "mahirap lang po wala kaming pambayad sa kotse nyo," further emboldens them and removes any sense of accountability. how long do we have to wait before they start bumping cars on purpose, secure in the thought that they will not be held accountable for their actions?

i've been driving for the greater part of almost two decades and i've seen how order and simple road courtesy has deteriorated. there will come a time when the public utility driver na kinakaawaan niyo will nonchalantly or even purposely bump your car or worse, your loved one, confident in the knowledge that you'll let them go because "nagtatrabaho lang kami at wala naman personalan" and "pasensya na po mahirap lang kami at walang pambayad."

I totally agree that we can't just let things be.

The most effective way to make these drivers more responsible really is to enforce the rules and force feed discipline into them

If our law enforcers would only be more effective in enforcing the simple traffic rules that these drivers violate then there would be far less traffic and fewer accidents.

Add to that the fact that we really need to make the laws themselves more stringent. Things like making sure a vehicle is road worthy (like kumpleto sa ilaw, gumagan brakes), requiring comprehensive insurance for all MVs, regardless if its a car, motorcycle or PUV and amending our penalties to increase them to a point that if you violate them and you have to pay for a penalty, it will really hurt (tingnan natin kung may mag violate ng traffic laws pag say, kahit minor infraction lang eh 5,000 pesos ang minimum penalty)

Grabe na talaga mga tricycle drivers. Nag-papark kung saan-saan. Dito sa amin sa mismong kanto sila tumitigil at nakalampas pa konti ang gulong sa mimong kalye..

Grabe na sila ka-ignorante. Bakit kaya nde mag-seminar ang mga namumuno sa association nila tapos turuan ang mga miembro nila.

Kung nakakapatay lang talaga ang pagmumura sa mga pesteng drivers ng PUVs lalong lalo na ang mga trike & pedicab drivers, malamang mamaho ang daan sa dami ng nakabulagta. Talagang walang disiplina ang mga yan, walang batas trapiko na sinusunod. Masyadong mga spoiled. Bigyan lang talaga ako ng pagkakataon na puedeng pumatay (na maituturing na wala kang pagkakasala sa Diyos at sa batas ng tao) for 24 hours, ipangungutang ko talaga ang pambili ko ng mga armas & bala para gamitin sa mga yan. Hindi na sila nakakatuwa.

tama si bro smooth. they're getting more brazen as each day passes. wala nang sinasanto na batas trapiko. dapat nga these people should be penalized even for minor offenses. small and petty crimes lead to big ones

power brings out the true character of a person.
remember lord of the rings, the ring's power reveals a persons greed, weaknesses....
Once behind the wheel (or a trike) we somehow aquire that power, from small pocket bike up to monster trucks, the bigger, the faster, or with wang wang...it brings the true character of the person.
Sadly...if this is the reflection of our society, anyone who gets the seat of power of government, if he has no virtue, will be just another "golum".

Getting back on track....
there are subdivisions that do not welcome tricycles.
at first akala ko it was discrimination to those can't afford ng auto, pero in the long run i've become a convert kahit na 2kms ang layo namin from the gate.
Our neighborhood is peaceful, fresher air & people routinarily walks on multiple purpose: to get from A to B & get that exercise. Walang na re-rape, walang na hi-hit & run, walang akyat bahay, walang masacre at walang nag kakarerahan - no exagerations, true to life po ito.

Tricycle drivers / jeepney drivers... pag pasensyahan natin sila, be the first to extend respect & courtesy, and then maybe, maybe ha, in that way we could impart good virtue to them. Drive defensively, else be on the loosing ground.

It is really hard to change the world, wala tayong control dun, but we have control on our selves, power to change our selves and even choose the way we react. Let's do better.
