Doctora and I were in the market for a used Suzuki Jimny this past month.

Trying to be resourceful I texted some friends and acquaintances that I was looking for such a unit.

Just my luck, someone I know from Suzuki, gave me the number of an agent who he said might have a good lead.

So I called the agent. He referred me to the personal assistant of the owner of the vehicle.

In the end, I transacted directly with the vehicle's owner and ended up taking home a black '03 Jimny A/T last Saturday.

Today I get a text from the agent asking for his "finder's fee".

Tama ba yun? Diba whatever commission or finder's fee will be between him and the seller of the vehicle? Sa sobrang inis ko, I gave him some pretty strong words.

Thankfully, Zukiman of 4x4ph who happens to work for Suzuki also, intervened and diffused the situation. Pero tama ba talagang ako ang magbigay ng finder's fee samantalang ako ang buyer and not the seller? And this agent even has the nerve to ask if I gave Zukiman and my the other Suzuki guy a finder's fee. Of course I did not, and they did not ask for many. But in return for the good service they have provided me through the years, madami na din ako narefer sa kanila and I think putting a good word for them is enough already.

Now I will not recommend this agent to anyone...not my loss...buy your Zuks elsewhere.

i'm sure may commission yung ahente sa seller...

Pero gusto din nya kumita sa buyer.

meron talaga mga ahente na ganyan... garapal

agent-seller lang may ganyang usapan.. kung wala siya nakuha sa seller, ibig sabihin nyun, kasalana na nya yun at di nya kinausap yung seller prior sa usapan nyu(as buyer) and seller.

unless may usapan na kayo beforehand na bibigyan mo na lang sya o bigyan na lang sya ng finder's fee, hindi talaga tama yon. it's logical to assume na yong seller ang magbibigay if ever.

anyway, congrats on your new Jimny! pics naman

I think the "agent" should demand 'finder's fee or commission' from the seller and not from the buyer.

BTW, normally, how much is the "finder's fee or commission' and the referral fee?

A thousand or two wouldnt have hurt you di ba?

for all you know, humingi siya ng commission fee sa seller

ako kasi I alway try to appreciate the help of others kahit konti may maibigay. parang good karma na din.

^^^ Yup, I tend to agree. Trabaho talaga nila yun. I think the core of the situation is hindi mabibili yung Suzuki ni TS, if it weren't for the tip/services provided for by the agent. For all we know, wala siyang nakuha sa seller, kaya sa buyer siya nanghihingi.

Now, kung masyadong malaki yung hinihinging commission, (like over 10k), then that's the time to complain.

Yup, wala naman kasing agreement about a 'finder's fee'. I've been around the used car biz since I learned how to drive (we rarely buy brand new cars) to know that all the cars we have sold off through agents, the commission always came from us (the seller) and none of the buyers ever had to foot for a finder's fee.

If the agent had explicitly expressed his intention of getting a finder's fee, then maybe it would have been ok. What's more irritating is he just texts me asking for it while I'm in the middle of examining a patient. Just so happens that the two people I know at Suzuki, knew he had the number of a unit for sale. If he had extended any other form of service other than texting me the number of the owner or facilitating our meeting, maybe he would have gotten his fee also.

Sorry I did not bother to ask the cost of his so called fee as Zukiman had intervened already.

Guys, please remind me to charge you my 'finder's fee' for every PM/SMS/Email/Call I get asking for the number of Mang Mario, 199 Off-road house, Autocamp, Filmar's, Speedyfix, etc. :D hehehe.

FLASH NEWS: The seller just called me a few minutes ago. They already paid for the commission on the unit.

This guy is just trying to do a 'double take'.

I disagree with this. The buyer was not in a hurry nor desperate to find a vehicle. He was asking for referrals from his friends and acquaintances.

Still, the agent wasnt his friend nor his acquaintance. We all acknowledge the fact that the agent exerted at the very least a small amount of effort to help the buyer di ba? anyway, its all moot now. May kaniya kaniya tayong pananaw and opinion sa valuation ng mga "tulong" perceived or real ng mga tao around us.
