No law, no obligation.
There is still no obligation for them to share a slot. Like I said, it is upto the motorist if he/she wants to share a slot. How hard can it be to understand this "One vehicle, one parking slot". It doesn't matter if its a MC or a car.
Unless specified otherwise. So the MC's pictured earlier were definitely not parked incorrectly. If they don't want to share, then there is nothing you can do about it. Just find another empty space. If there is none, then the car park is considered full so park elsewhere.
Since you mentioned being "Considerate" as a point, I have a question for you. If you own a picanto, cherry qq, or a mini and the car park is full, will you be considerate and allow MC's that can fit in the empty space between your car to share the slot with you? Probably not. Will you allow another small car to park behind you and share the slot? Probably not. I wonder why?
I wonder what people will say if the SMART car comes to the philippines. You can fit 2 of them in 1 parking slot(one behind the other) with a little space to spare. Will people say that they are inconsiderate for wasting space for using just 1 slot each when 2 cars can fit in a single parking slot?
Here's an extreme example: (4 cars in one slot)
In the states there are parking meters for each parking slot. The occupant of the slot is required to pay or else his vehicle will be towed. Do you think motorcyclists will be sharing one slot? No they won't, so its not uncommon to see MC's occupying 1 slot each. Why should other people share my slot especially if I payed for it. Life isn't a charity case.

keep on fighting Joned but I doubt if you'll convince people here otherwise.
I used to own a bike myself - a 250cc Honda - and I used to (and still) think that parking slots obviously sized for a car are meant for cars and bigger vehicles, and bikers who take up one car slot like that all by themselves are lazy/selfish/inconsiderate/assholes.
common sense nalang, ganun ba kalaki ang bike mo? do you need a space that big? if there are no designated parking slots for bikes then petition the building/establishment owner to set aside some for bikes. while there is no parking slots for bikes, share that slot with other bikers para hindi sayang yung extra space. what you want (or what you think is your right) and what should be are not necesarrily the same. kulang na nga parking slots without people being inconsiderate assholes and taking up more space than necessary.
your example pic doesn't hold water. nobody would expect people with small cars to park like that. if people were to park like that, andito rin sa stupid parking thread and pics nila.
practicality and economy of space lang ;)
btw, you seem to be getting more antagonistic and personal in your posts... relax lang... don't take it too personally. if you can't take what's being dished out on the interwebs, maybe you shouldn't be participating in online discussion where people have different opinions.

In a parking area,- do MCs pay the same rate as cars?... If they do, then, they have the right to park in a slot allocated for a car. Else, there should be a different parking scheme for them..

We are not certain who folded the sidemirror of the car. We are just assuming, based on the circumstances presented.
Anyway, I guess the beef here is that the driver of the Starex should have found the time to park his ride properly. (More so, if he indeed found the time to fold the sidemirror)..

Most parking buildings and lots are private property so generally, whatever management or the owners allow, then that's the law for that parking lot. Revenue maximization is the name of the game to these guys so chances are they discourage one motorbike to take up one whole slot if they don't have designated motorbike parking (although most already do have designated parkings). A good example of revenue and space maximization is those private Makati parking lots where cars are squeezed in within inches and are moved about like a puzzle to get in and out of the lot.
On allowing another small car or motorbike to share my car slot, it is an apples to oranges comparison. A four wheeled vehicle, whether it be Mr. Bean's Mini, a Picanto, a QQ, an Altis, Camry, Pajero, or a Hummer, is still a 4-wheeled vehicle with doors and with different maneuverability dynamics so placing a motorcycle or squeezing another car next to it on the same slot is entirely different from motorbikes parked beside each other. Put in two or three motorbikes in one car slot still leaves ample space to move about (depending on the type of bike); what matters is there is space for one to safely mount and dismount his bike and in the same way, there is ample space for one to enter/exit and maneuver his car.
In principle, I do agree on the one person using one metered parking slot argument (in the US as you pointed out) as one person is paying and another one would free loading. However, a quick search will show that developed cities allow two motorcycles/scooters to use one metered slot provided either users ensure the meter time doesn't run out. If one doesnt pay-up and free loads, its merely considered anti-social but is not banned by law. Other developed cities are also implementing multi metered slots or are defining smaller metered slots for motorbikes/scooters as this recognizes that one bike using one car-sized slot is a waste increasingly scarce parking space. This is moot though as metered slots are not common here in the Philippines and everyone pays up when they enter a car park or park in a pay parking area.
and as roninblade pointed out, easy lang and lighten up. Magpapasko na at buhay pa rin ang cars versus bikes.
They can be folded manually however, it is best to unfold them manually as well.Last edited by vinj; December 21st, 2010 at 01:44 PM.

December 22nd, 2010 01:53 AM #1190EXACTLY!!
Most parking lots charge the same for MC's and Cars.
If I go to a parking lot without MC parking, I will use a parking slot and park my Big Bike in it. Not a damn thing fools can do about it.
A PARKING SLOT ISN'T ONLY FOR 4 WHEELERS PERIOD. That's just common sense. Have the private parking management specify otherwise.
Courtesy, Consideration BS. It seems only motorcyclists are the ones being demanded to be considerate in this country both on the road and elsewhere.
