I just came from MMDA Metrobase Mandaluyong this afternoon to get my sticker as well as Otep's. To my surprise, hindi pala sticker ang issued for this quarter. Its a certificate the size of a bondpaper that has to be attached to the windshield with the official receipt. Holy crap! That's almost a bondpaper-size reduction in visibility sa windshield! Hahaha. Pero according to the Office of the Chairman, baka next quarter its going to be a sticker again. They have to change the media kasi, fonts, design, etc. every quarter kasi marami daw fake certificates and stickers out on the market including those that are expired already but still being used.

I'll try to post a picture of the "official" MMDA-issued Doctor on Call exemption certificate for the benefit of all so that everyone would be aware as to how it looks and so you guys could spot the difference between the legitimate and the fake ones.

Teka... now that you've mentioned it, what privileges does the "LAWYER" vanity plate give the driver? Exempt din ba yon sa coding?

I noticed na dumadami yung mga kotseng may "LAWYER" plate ang nakikita ko sa kalye.

Parang nabasa ko na dati sa old plate thread dati pinaghuhuli na ito. Kasama yung Chairman and Councilor plates. Di ko lang sure kung natutupad nga.

Most doctors except of course for a few bigtime doctors do not really get a day off. They have to attend to patients whether its an emergency or not. The point is we have to see them when the clinic or hospital calls. Just dont drive reckless. Sometimes the clinic schedules coincide with the off-the road days of our ride pero i personally do not think that is a justifiable reason for putting on hold somebody's need for medical treatment. That is the nature of our job. I do agree that these stickers are being abused by other people kaya okay lang naman na i-challenge ako ng traffic aide for my prc license. Ganyan talaga ang dapat gawin kung duda sila. Tama rin yun kumuha ng official exemption from the MMDA.

Hello. The "Doctor on Call" badges/stickers are not devices for use as an exemption to the UVVRP or other traffic rules. They are intented to aid physicians by informing the general public and traffic law enforcement personell about their line of work and that certain courtesies (sp?) and leeway be extended to them as physicians go about their duties. Courtesies such as being able to make u-turns in restricted areas or cautiously run stoplights (preferably with coordination from traffic personell) among others. These priviledges comes with responsibility, though. The responsibility to drive safely under all conditions and the responsibility to render the highest quality of medical care once on site.

There are MMDA-issued certificates which exempt physician's vehicle from the UVVRP and towing laws. But that does not mean these should be abused.

All our vehicles have custom made front-end badges (metal with large graphics) and rear-end D.O.C. graphics (reflectorized for long distance visibility). The ones on the LC II and W126 even have my father's batch number. My father is a surgeon and he sometimes has to deal with factory-related accidents and other trauma cases esp. in the Caloocan and Valenzuela area. And whatever vehicle we have parked streetside is the one which he will use to get to the hospital. Yes, there are residents at the hospital. But some cases do require the skills of a consultant even at the most unholy hour.

The rest of the time, our vehicles are driven in a safe and responsible manner. But the badges and graphics do have to stay on because anything can happen at any moment.
