Its really pointless because almost useless yan to deter what they're supposed to deter.
Alam mo naman ang way of life dito sa atin eh-- to give an impression that they're doing something about a problem, even when they're actually not (pakitang tao lang).

Ang nakikinabang lang diyan... yung security agency kasi may reason to hire more guards to do useless things...

    at a popular mall parking,
    they sort-of inspect entering cars,
but they do not bother to bother the pedestrians and their hand-carrys, walking into the same parking facility...

    Remember Isetan Recto?

Back in HS, we'd laugh at this mall, because the guards would pat you down (kapkapan) before you could enter -due to frequent gang violence, and it was a hangout of prostitutes & gay men. It had a very sketchy reputation even back in it its heyday.

Through the years however, and with a FEW notorious incidents (Martilyo Gang, etc.), parang naging standard practice na ito dito sa `Pinas, even though its so obvious na wala naman itong silbi talaga

I remember my college days. Sa LRT Monumento station, may hawak na drumstick ang mga guard at itutusok lang nila sa loob ng bag mo at good to go ka na.

people discriminate by looks, if the car is "OLD" but looks good then it will not be discriminated, people dont know how old the car is but only asses by its outside physical beauty...

Sa entrance ng car park usually nakikita ko discrimination ng guards between old cars and new cars.

If well maintained naman, the impression usually would be “galing naman ng pag maintain”.

I have an officemate before who have a ‘95 Corolla that is very well maintained and he got a complete strip to metal repaint 5 yrs ago, clear glass with no tint. He has other 2 newer cars but he keep this, which was given to him by his erpat.

Never had a chance to meet and see it again dahil sa covid hehe

sa perception ng car guy yes

    pero sa perception ng sekyu?

    luma is luma dude

makintab na corolla big body is still luma in the eyes of a sekyu

they only respect "angas" these days

    angas = size

they only respect SUVs and pickups now

if you pull up in a new subcompact, grab driver ka lang sa mata nila

    sekyu = RT-PCR

    haha

a new car is easy. all it takes is money.

but an older car that still looks very nice?
that takes money, and more importantly, dedication.

My Dad loves old cars, kaya I'm a woman that's interested in cars because I got it from my Dad and brother. Back in college, I had a car na carb, pawis windows and steering etc. I could tinker with it a bit like change the brake lights. That's the beauty with older cars, not much electronics. Now I don't even open the hood of my car.

They can't even distinguish the year model of the car so as long as it's well maintained they won't know that it's old. Sa office namin may naka mid 90s BMW, which my officemates thought were new

I also know a guy who bought an old model benz with no intention of keeping if for a long time because of maintenance issues. He used it to impress and pick up blue collar women (sales lady, cashier etc), it works naman daw LOL.

    "two-door sports car."

I think the point of discrimination isn't that the car is old, but a lot of these old cars are dilapidated.

I personally love seeing well maintained old cars. Instant nostalgia appeal, and if runs well and looks clean then that also shows that the owner knows how to take care of his things.

Mga sekyu kasi pinakajudgmental sa kotse among the regular folk you interact with everyday.

There are people who buy cars for the clout. So to your point, you’ll see heavily modded old cars na gandang ganda sila within their car circles, pero sa mata ng sekyu, old car lang yan.

Do people discriminate against old cars?
