Public Blackmail!!! Bawiin yung mga franchise ng mga nag-strike!
Some Leftist strikers has spilled oil along EDSA-Ayala...

    http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/287377...-strike-monday

Claire de la Fuente, one of the largest bus operators in Metro Manila said 3,805 buses plying the historic Efifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) are expected to be grounded by transport operators during the impending strike.

De la Fuente told DZBB radio station that the impending strike was aimed at forcing the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to reconsider (blackmail) its decision to lift the color-coding scheme, which bans buses to ply along EDSA based on the even and odd numbers of their plates

MANILA, Philippines - A bus strike left thousands of people stranded on Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and other major thoroughfares in Metro Manila on Monday.

Monday morning traffic on EDSA was unusually light after local bus operators made good on their threat to keep their buses from plying their regular routes to protest the implementation of the number coding scheme for passenger buses. More than 3,000 buses or about 70 percent of all buses plying Metro Manila reportedly took part in the strike.

Among the groups that agreed to participate are the Integrated Metropolitan Bus Operators Association, Inter-City Bus Operators Association, Metro Bus Transport Club Inc., and the South Luzon Bus Operators Association (SOLUBOA).

As of 7 a.m., hundreds of stranded workers occupied nearly half of the main thoroughfare along Batasan Hills, Commonwealth Avenue while waiting for a ride to take them to their places of work. Some of the passengers said they have been waiting for a ride for the past 2 hours.

Under the number coding scheme, buses that have license plates ending in 1 and 2 are banned on EDSA on Mondays; 3 and 4 on Tuesdays; 5 and 6 on Wednesdays; 7 and 8 on Thursdays, and, 9 and 0 on Fridays.

Provincial buses prohibited from plying their routes will be stopped from entering Metro Manila at all entry points, including the North Luzon and South Luzon Expressways.

The Metro Manila Development Authority said around 13,000 provincial and city buses will be affected by the scheme, 1,000 of them on a daily basis.

I don't know what to call these commuters in commonwealth. They're occupying 2-3 lanes of the road thus those coming from T. Sora are having a hard time to merge.

So that's why traffic was unusually light today.

Call them assh*ts but MOST people ride on buses to get to work. The current strike shows how mismanaged our transportation sector is. MMDA should just strictly implement the timed loading and unloading scheme.

I ride the bus 4x a week.

    Let's see...

    70 percent gone, good riddance!

As for the 30 percent, they must be raking it in! Re-allocate the remaining 30 percent so you got most if not all the routes still covered and you got happy commuters AND motorists.

Then, do not allow the 70 percent back on the road and revoke their franchises!

claire de la fuente can take a rolling f*** of a rolling donut for all I care. If the MMDA gives in to this stupidity then they can go join her!

The role of busses should be reviewed. Rail should be the primary form of city transport and busses and taxi should just serve to provide transpo from the station to the remote locations. We should invest in rail transpo the true public transport. All developed countries use rail

it would be very hard for them (dela fuente et al) to accept that they are the ones causing the traffic jams in EDSA 'coz they have invested a huge amount of money already and they will lose profits in their businesses with MMDA's number coding strategy for the buses. but it's really part of the business world..

sa mga taong matataas ang pride at ego, mahirap talaga tanggapin na kasalanan at talo ka. private cars travelling along EDSA don't do a stop-and-go (one or two maybe). kasalanan talaga ng buses yan. they are the one's causing more bottleneck. samahan mo pa ng stupid drivers + long vehicles (wide turning radius) overtaking other buses, edi kakain talaga ng lane yan, making private vehicles either stop, decelerate, or swerve.

Claire dela Fuente should roll in S*** and STFU.

As for the Gov't, call their bluff and revoke all their franchises. Make the bus sector a monopoly of the government while other long term means (i.e. rail) are developed. Tignan natin sino magugutom.

To quote another bus operator: (From http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/me...sands-stranded)
"Sebastian also suggested that the MMDA identify only a single lane on EDSA for cars that have only 1 passenger. "Dun na lang sila magsiksikan tutal maayayaman naman sila," he said
    .

    Well, F-you too.

"The operators bought new buses with the understanding that they can use it for 6 days a week. Now with the number coding, it is down to 5. How will operators pay for those new buses if they remove 1 day of earnings?" he said.

Claire de la Fuente, one of the largest bus operators in Metro Manila..
The question here is how many buses she has, parang wala na. its all sub-franachise. Dapat i cancel na yung franchise nyan.

Kaya nga may UVVRP, its Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (R.A 7924). hindi lang private vehicle.. pinagbigyan na sila ng mahabang panahon.

Wahahha!

To the buses that went on a transport holiday,“Make that a permanent one."

To Claire Dela Fuente: "Go back to singing, maybe there's a career for you there than being president of a bus union."

And that shows WHO is really the cause of traffic on the major roads in Metro Manila.

if MMDA pushes with a 1 passenger rule, there might be a surge of sales for this:

Especially for the torso/head/arms portion. Put a t-shirt on and seat-belt him in and you have a "passenger" excuse.
