If he had real presence of mind he would not have been speeding in the first place.

If i were one of the cars lined up next to where the bus hit, baka atakehin pa ako sa gulat.

Yung iba sira lang yung aircon or pinalipat ako dahil kaunti sakay niya papuntang taft ave.Yung isa tinow kasi colorum ata.

Correction: the Elena Bus crahed into the rear of a MGP Bus, which then ran over several commuters, who were standing in the middle of the road. The Elena Bus driver was injured with a broken jaw.

MANILA (UPDATE) – At least 5 people died after a bus hit a loading bay along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Magallanes, Makati City on Thursday morning.

Makati City Police chief Col. Manuel Lucban Jr. said an Elena Liner Bus (TXN 191) rear-ended an MGP Trans bus (NXV 360) and hit several people at the loading bay of EDSA-Magallanes southbound lane.

Four men and a woman who were waiting for a ride died in the crash, a doctor from the Ospital ng Makati who rushed to the scene confirmed.

Lucban said the Elena Liner bus driver was one of those severely injured in the mishap.

At least 33 were injured in the crash, including bus passengers who sustained bone fractures, according to Makati City Police.

The accident snarled traffic in the area. The bodies of the victims were still in the area and one of the buses has yet to be removed from the road.

As of posting time, only two lanes of the busy thoroughfare were passable. – reports from Dennis Datu and Dexter Ganibe, dzMM

Hope MMDA make this improvement sa mga bus stop.

The other thing to ask is why were the commuters on the road and not on the curb where they should be when queuing up for public transport. Oh wait... nobody here queues up and it's a free-for-all with people pushing each other to get on the bus. And buses race against each other with breakneck speed to get passengers so yes, this is a formula for disaster with the public transport commuters paying with their lives. May they rest in peace.

So many times I have to drive carefully, forcing my way through people waiting for the the bus standing in the middle of the street. The more they block the roads, the longer the traffic they cause!!!

Yeah was stuck in that traffic jam. Thought it would clear up after Buendia, just got worse. And when I checked the MMDA app, it only said that there were 2 buses that were involved in an accident. Got shocked to hear on the radio that there were 6 fatalities and multiple injured. RIP to them.

I agree, there's not much you can do with the bus stops we have, especially with the limited road space. You'd think those b*stards driving the buses would slow down because of the smaller roads and tighter surroundings, but no, they just speed as if they're the only ones on the road and f-cking block the roadway! One a-hole is enough to slow traffic down because he takes up 1.5 lanes. Put 2 neanderthals together, and it's virtually a standstill.

For these PUVs, can't help but ask a Duterte-ish solution.

Add to that, the bad habit of passengers to waiting in the middle of the roads for buses to arrive.

I figured it was bad and was lucky enough to turn off at Buendia.

it doesn't help either that there's barely any sidewalk left at a various parts of EDSA and during rush hours, the volume of commuters are really large. It's a norm to see them take up one whole lane of EDSA from Buendia to Ayala in the evening while the buses block the other lanes.

Wala talagang silbi ang MMDA personnel most of the time. Nakatayo lang sa kalye, parang human pylon.

Just my opinion: Why aren't the Bus services here in the Philippines controlled by the governtment like Dubai? The buses these private companies use are Coaches aren't even supposed to be used as a city Bus the proper buses for the city are like the ones in London. Its lower, safer, fuel efficient, quiet, comfortable and it can carry more passengers. They should also have proper Bus stops that aren't in the middle of the road, it should be like a little cut from the sidewalk infront of the Bus shed. Dubai and Singapore is a perfect example for having good Bus routes and stops.
