As far as I know there's no such violation, but if you do get stuck in the middle of the intersection while the light is red, may violation ka talaga. Basically you'll be blocking traffic.

It's called the "yellow-box rule", and it's more or less a universal traffic rule. Notice the intersection area is covered with a crossed yellow box. It's supposed to be the motorist's responsibility to estimate whether or not he can clear the intersection. IF you know you won't have space at the other side, even if the light is green you're not supposed to enter the intersection.

BBC's Top Gear had an episode where they go out and humiliate people who block the yellow box. (supposedly more effective than giving them tickets)

ortigas area, before medical city. nadali na ako dito. i was being flagged on a yellow light. i refused. the mmda jumped and went straight to his bike. hehe pasok ako agad medical city. tas quickly got out after 10 mins.

For me, when I see yellow, I try to stop na, kasi it's not worth the ticket hehehe. You never can tell how long that yellow will last. Some are quick to change to red, Some are a little bit more delayed.

yeah, yellow light dito sa manila sobrang bili magpalit sa red. aabutin ka talaga. kaya ako pag yellow i try to stop na lang pero minsan talga hindi na kaya dinidiretso ko na lang.

pa post naman po kung where makikita yung proper rules and regulations regarding yellow light para ma print natin at maipakita sa mga buaya na haharang sa atin sa daan. nahuli narin ako nito minsan dyan sa pasay-taft intersection. nasa gina na ako nung nag yellow light kaso hinarang parin ako. laki kasi ng intersection nato kaya may possibility talaga na pwede ka abutan ng yellow light sa gitna.

That's why it's important to know the rules, so they don't stand a chance if they want to extort from you. There is no such thing as beating a yellow light.

There are some lights na ambilis rin ng yellow, after one second red kaagad. That's not fair either, the lights should give the vehicles enough time to cross the intersection safely.

FWIW, for those who are color-blind, red is the top light, yellow is the middle and green is the lowest light. Red and green arrows also follow this, red will always be on top. That is, if the lights are working...

Pag inabutan me ng yellow light and it's safe to stop, I stop. If not, I don't. In the former, it's best to avoid an argument. In the latter, any argument is worth your safety.
