Hi Peeps, just wanna share this, they have been harassing each and every member of the family, basta kung sino makadampot ng phone sa house.

The story goes like this, a couple of years back yung cousin ko na seaman is temporarily tumira sa house ng parents ko until such time nga na nakaalis ito at sumakay ng barko. From then bihira na kami makapag-usap and also one time umuwi sya dito nakapag-pundar na ng sariling house.

Then, it started a couple of weeks back, na etong law office na ito started to look for our cousin, saying he has outstanding balance with a bank. We just simply say na matagal nang umalis yung cousin ko na yun sa amin. To make it short, ayaw maniwala ng tiga-law ofc and instead started cursing us to the point na tinatago daw namin yung cousin namin. To add to this, they even started to call my mother using different company names eh same number lang din naman gamit nila, na kesyo may package daw kami from my cousin and we have to claim daw. Also, different guys and girls ang tumatawag. At first they were courteous, pero lately they started out na murahin yung mother ko and cursing her as if sya yung may utang.

Tinawagan ko din mga mokong na yun at puro sili ata mga bibig nila at pati ako pinagmumura. I calmly told them that I do not have the exact address if saan nakakuha ng house yung cousin namin na yun and its been 2 years nung last kaming nagkita.

I know my cousin was wrong but then this law office kuno is cursing and harassing us na as if kami yung may utang. And also told them na if talagang law office sila, just do file a case with my cousin and let the law takes it course. Damn these people working for this company...

Eto po pala company phone nila.

899-8139 and 895-1962 (girl named Monique and a guy sounding like gay)

Is there a way na ipa-block namin phone na ito? Any suggestions peeps on what actions we need to do? Nakaka-irita kasi, almost every hour tumatawag at inis na si ermats.

    TIA! (Wuusaaahhhh!)

Dude, short of going to the IBP to complain, maybe you can do yourselves a favor and change phone numbers. You can try an answering machine also to screen your calls.

Often, these are not really law firms. Try calling PLDT to have them blocked.

If not, file a case of harrasment or something. Demand very high compensation tingnan natin kung hindi ma-bankrupt yan. hehe.

If you want good lawyers, i have friends that i can refer to you.

Yun nga isa pang kinaiinis namin, everytime we call them wala man lang greetings of whatsoever (or seems like they have a caller ID too) kaya at lost kami kung anong company talaga sila.

Kung pwede nga lang i-phone brigade ko para mapagod kakasagot mga mokong...may araw din itong mga ito!

That must be a collection agency. They work based on commission and so they really have to intensify collection by all means. File a complaint with the bank or institution that your cousin owes, it might just help.

is there a way to verify if the person youre talking to is really a lawyer? can you ask for his PRC number and check it online? baka matakot pag tinanong mo.

Chances are, collection agency nga yan. But it could also be a law firm, but I doubt that the callers are lawyers themselves. Usually mga collectors lang yan, earning on commission basis from actual collections, kaya ganyan na lang magsalita.

The best thing really is for you to contact your cousin (through mutual relatives) and ask him to settle his loan. If checks are involved, BP 22 yan, and he's likely to be arrested.

if you know someone from PLDT, you can get pertinent info based on the phone numbers. Let them know you know who and where they are.

I'm a lawyer and it pains me to see something like this happen, especially considering that this may not even be a bona fide law firm, just some two-bit collection agency. If it's a real law firm, your cousin would already get a formal demand letter. Lawyers generally don't use the phone to demand payment for their client - documents are a lawyer's best friend (or bane, depending on where you're coming from). If this is a collection agency, the amount of money your cousin may owe the bank may not be that much since a bank worth its salt will only refer small "bad debts" to collection agencies if filing a case to recover it is not commercially feasible (i.e. they'll spend more for the lawyer than it's worth). So, for practicality's sake, change your numbers na lang. That's the easiest, fastest way to do away with this problem.

Lawyers are not registered with the PRC since only the Supreme Court has jurisdication over lawyers and the bar. Thus, we have "roll numbers" (referring to the number in the Roll of Attorneys we signed in the Supreme Court) instead of PRC numbers.

Yes. You can verify it at www.supremecourt.gov.ph and check the Roll of Attorneys.

But, any Tom, Dick and Harry can go and claim he's Atty. "X". It would be better for you to trace where they hold office to verify if they are a law firm.

pag nagkainitan na, pasabi mo sa mother mo: "mag-ingat ka at baka may mangyari sayo sa daan" off the record.

then anticipate nyo isasagot, pag death threat back, i-record nyo kagad. yari kagad yan sa huwes
