di ba ang wings sa trunk is used for traction?
bakit karaniwan ng may wings na nakikita ko ay FWD vehicles tulad ng hondas, mitsus etc. may tulong ba talaga ito sa traction even if it is fwd?

Wings do not create traction, they create downforce, which gives the same effect as having weights in the car at speed. This aids in high speed stability and adds to cornering traction merely because there's more "weight" pushing down on the wheels.
But since the speeds at which downforce becomes appreciably effective are very high, they don't really do anything for the handling of most road cars. Plus they add drag (which equals lower top speeds and higher fuel consumption.)
Also, any trunk-mounted wing which actually creates effective downforce will warp the trunk. I know this from experience. Don't ask me how.
It's not a case of whether or not it's effective for FF... FF cars can still benefit from downforce on track... it's a case of whether you need it on a car that can barely exceed 100 mph (160 kmh).
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
ginagaya yung mga touring cars (like from the JGTC)...
unless you are doing some track time (and your engine has a minimum of 400 horses) this is completely useless. though some cars have this as OEM (like the Noble M12):

naalala ko tuloy ang Would you even want to be seen driving this? thread
pls dont put wings...look at my bimmer..RWD yan but never been touched pa yan ng kahit anong wing hehe
most of the time talaga, aesthetics lang yan. some cars look good with it, some don't. speaking of wings...we were just at a chinese restaurant for dinner, and the name of our waiter is Wing (walang biro), so naturally, i ordered chicken wings. "can i have some chicken wing, Wing?"![]()

aesthetics lang talaga yan actually fad nga eh, nauso nung time ng facelifted EK, mga 1998 or 1999...
old kotse.com days pa hahaha
aesthetic lang pala talaga siya noh.
eh pano pag 4wd dapat may wing sa harap at sa likod hehehe...
:bwahaha:pano pag 4wd dapat may wing sa harap at sa likod hehehe...
Hindi lang yun dagdag mo pa "he's flying with a wing"..Kung FWD dapat nasa Front din ang wing.![]()
read somewhere that these wings are already banned on the autobahn for hazardous reasons. will try to find out the details...
They were banned because cheaply installed ones (stuck onto the trunk instead of properly braced) can fly off... theoretically... I doubt it's ever happened.
Some guys I know who do track duty in their FF cars have wings, but they're balanced by front end air-splitters. These are usually balsa board, fiberglass, carbon-fiber or polyurethane air effects trays under the front bumper. They aid traction in front and help concentrate air going in through the bumper grilles into the radiator. But splitters and wings have to be well balanced, or the car will scrape the ground at high speeds.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Modern aerodynamics now emphasize the underside of the car, so instead of putting wings, downforce can still be created discreetly under the car without the cosmetic value. Perhaps what FF cars need is an front underspoiler.
RWD/4WD benefit from rear spoilers because during acceleration, power is usually transmitted/biased to the rear so the rear wheels need more traction and stability. That's why top-of-the-line Evos and Skylines have rear wings, rear diffusers, and even shark fins.
track time, yes... 400 horses, not really. LIke I've said, those who have slightly modified FF cars (150-200 hp) do use wings and front undertrays to great effect on track.
But on the road, it's almost utterly useless, as you'll never be in a situation where you need thatmuch downforce. You'd be going too fast.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Wings? Detergent? Hahaha ... mag duck tail ka nalang or regular spoiler :-p
mahirap maging poser ... all those "wingers" on the road are just for show
