September 16th, 2007 03:06 PM #2Yes it uses a timing chain. I may be wrong but I belive all newer model Nissans use t-chains.
With a chain, you dont have to worry about changing it. Its supposed to last the life of the car.

mali ka, wala pa ko nakikitang local revo na timing chain--7k is still timing belt, 1kz, 1zz, 1kd, etc.. all passenger models ng toyota uses timing belt. nissan offers timing chain talaga, from ga16, qd32, td27, sr20, etc....
and i dont believe na makina ng avanza ay timing chain.. its practicallty the same as what the vios/echo has.....and most top-end models nga ng toyota timing belt parin...even diesl engines...Last edited by alwayz_yummy; September 16th, 2007 at 03:40 PM.

yup, this should not be a big issue..
pero siyempre lesser maintenance ang chain, especially the gear then the belt...
most new toyotas naman has an T-belt indicator on the dash..

September 16th, 2007 04:31 PM #10Napa research ako sa thread na to.
I'm 100% sure that the Avanza uses a timing chain. I asked a Toyota sales rep about it before purchasing my unit. It was also confirmed by another Avanza owner in the Toyota Avanza thread. And to validate, I just checked my owners manual. No mention of checking, inspecting or replacing a timing belt in the maintenance section.
I've used Stainz Out and Stain Guard from Glaz (Microtex) but I noticed it made my windshield form...
