    galing mo bro d ko napansin hahahaha sori bangag galing sa gimik e hahaha ic ano pa ba ano po ung mga common sakit ng fx? mga things to watch out tsaka tips on how to maintain?

    hi,

    need help po
    tamarraw fx diesel 2C
    bought 2nd hand 4 yrs ago
    Usage:
    1. daily commute to ofis / day shift (aprox. 5-6 km. distance from home)
    2. city driving with minimal traffic (speed ave. 40km/hr)
    3. no extra butingting sa unit, just the stock Radio and dual aircon.

    symptoms & re-occurring issue
    1. every approx. 2-3 months, ayaw mag start, parang drained ang battery / not enough power para i-start (parang battery is not fully charged but not fully drained).
    2. bought new battery 6 months ago & new battery terminal, upgraded to Motolite excell para mas malakas daw, and did the BIG 3 connection ( made sure na grounding is ok both sa body and engine + connection from alternator to positive ng battery) same issue pa din.
    3. everytime ayaw na mag start, nilinis lng ang battery terminal and push start, ayon ok na nmn then after 2-3 months, back to the same issue.
    4. medyo may signs na it's time to clean the battery terminal (kahit na malinis ang terminal, kailangan linisin ulit otherwise, same issue) kasi humihina ang tunog ng horn, pag hindi ko nilinis, the next morning, ayon, ayaw magstart.


    Starter, glow plug & fuel supply - for me is not an issue. pag malakas ang battery, start agad.
    Grounded - for me, not an issue din /kahit maulan. kahit ilang araw hindi ginamit, start nmn agad.
    Battery terminal is always clean.

    alternator? not sure.
    charging nmn sya and normal ang charge rating pag test sa battery shop.
    could be na charging nya is not enough to compensate sa usage?
    but basic lng gamit ko, stock stereo and aircon.
    also, pag alternator, dapat hindi 2-3months kundi like weekly or even daily ang issue.
    experienced alternator isyu with my other car, i know kung alternator (on my own understanding).

    ilang shop na pinuntahan ko, sabi nila palit daw ignition starter, glow plug, battery, alternator, even ignition switch etc and etc.

    gusto ko sana ma-pinpoint kung ano ang isyu nito, ayaw kung palitan ang hindi dapat (sayang lng at magastos).

    may na experience na po bah kayo kapareho nito?

    I used to own one and I'll just share my experience with it.

    First you have to make sure the alternator is charging properly, by installing a cigarette port volt digital display to monitor it.
    13.5V- minimum voltage when alternator charging at heavy load AC and headlight on.
    15.3V-max voltage when alternator charging the battery without load, or it will blow the solution.

    If the voltage is below 12V, it will be hard for it to start.

    Second almost na-experience ko na rin lahat yung naranasan mo at nagawa ko na rin yung mga nagawa mo.

    Nung nahirapan na akong magstart lalo na sa umaga ay nirekomenda ng diesel mechanic na i-over size na daw yung piston ring.
    Hindi ko na pina compression test, dala na rin na bago pa ako sa diesel, pero naging maayos naman ang kinalabasan although later on after sometime parang nahirapan na ulit mag-start especially sa morning kaya binenta ko na at bumili na ako ng Ertiga.

    yep, i have digital voltmeter and all readings are within range.
    (thanks for the heads-up on how to read the voltmeter, i have one but didn't know to interpret prior to reading your inputs, )

    Yes, your experience/input is a big help. It will help my future decision on what to do next.

    *love my Tamarraw FX - I have no other issues except just this start-up recurring issue.

    May redondo ba o clicking lang? kung click lang could be the starter/solenoid needs re-building.

    Kung may redondo - glow-plug, air-in-fuel line or restriction/ fuel filter.

    Other possible causes - parasitic drain, alternator not charging/busted rectifier...

    Based on our personal experience with the 2C (and the older 1C)

    Kapag mahirap mag start (pero kapag itulak mo magstart naman) malamang tukod/pudpod na yung valves.

    Hindi kasi pwedeng iadjust yung valve nya, so kapag luma na and napudpod na, wala kang choice but to have the engine fixed (kinalas mo na din kaya mas mabuting palitan na lahat ng dapat palitan)

    Yan din starter solenoid ang experience ko dati sa 2C and sa 4d56.

    And yes tama din yon diagnosis kung redondo ayaw tumuloy because of the nature of diesels being compression-ignition:

    - loose compression
    - valve shims/ clearance needs adjustment/replacement
    - pwede rin injection pump

    Ang Diesel kapag loose compression o singaw ang valve hirap start

    Ang gaso, agnas na ang sleeve o putol na ang ring, start pa rin.

    O yes I forget to mention nung binaba yung makina to over size the piston, the mechanic replaced the valve seal, grind and cleaned the valve, palit din ng thrust bearing, camshaft oil seal, pati na rin timing belt (Unita), and cylinder gasket.

    at least na narrow down ko din ang possible cause...
    Try ko muna 'tong rebuild/new starter, baka makatulong. kung bumalik ang isyu, then it's time to consider buying another car.

    Actually yung isang FX namin dati, we decided to just replace the engine with a Japanese surplus 2C.

    Mas maingay compared to the local version pero hanggang mabenta na namin yung mga FX namin di sya nag ka problema.

    Umabot din ng 5 yrs (2010-2015), yung itinagal ng pagka-over size, but I was working abroad and 2 to 3 times a year lang ako umuuwi para magamit ko although pinada-drive din ni wifey if there is a need.

    I was able to used it more in 2013 to 2015 when I retired as OFW.

    hmmm... parehong 94 model yung amin (I remember that it came out of the dealership without seatbelts

    after 5 years, parehong starting problem... Yung isa overhaul, yung isa engine replacement... nabenta na pareho bago nagloko ulit...

    Naalala ko yung kapitbahay namin, ginawa pa nyang automatic yung FX nya... Yung Japanese surplus na 2C kasi noon kasama AT transmission, in our case engine lang ginamit namin.

    kamusta na po tamaraw fx niyo? baguhan po ako dito and about 5months ago nakakuha nakong driver's license, I really like the tamaraw fx and yun ang papagamitin sakin ng parents almost feel like my own car hehe (sana naman) Gusto ko ma experience yung mag taga off roading so gusto ko rin malaman ano mga future upgrades pwedeng magawa sa tamaraw fx ko

    every sunday morning may nakikita ako pumaparada na fx sa village park namin. nagsisimba iyong owner i assume. medyo pinormahan at ang kinis!

    May nakita ako a few months ago na pristine Tamaraw FX, not sure kung restored or alaga lang talaga. Looking at it, 90s an 90s ang dating, complete with period correct OEM wheels.
