A 15 -30 second signal before changing lanes? In the Philippines, try doing this & all cars, jeeps, buses, trikes & motorbikes will definitely speed up to prevent you from changing lanes. Ako nga, when I signal to change lanes even if that lane is free, the vehicle on that lane will honk or flash me & it happens at least once a day. My SUV has this feature for changing lanes. I just flick the turn signal a bit & it flashes for 7 seconds. I think 7-10 seconds is ideal.

I made a signal mistake last weekend. Nagsignal ako to the left to enter our subdivision. Hinintay ko makadaan yung approaching vehicle so nag stop muna ako. Mali signal mo. Your intent is correct but your execution caused you to do the exact opposite of what you are telling others. You should have stayed on your lane and made the turn right after the incoming car has passed. Di na kailangan tumabi pa sa kanan. You may think that this is inconvenient to the cars behind you, and rightly so if you made the signal late, but it is common road courtesy to let others do what they have to do insofar as they signal their intent and go about it quickly.

A cardinal rule of driving is to clearly make your intent known to other road users. Even if you know that others may foil your intent or not extend you the courtesy.

Yup, it was an unnecessary movement to the right. It was a one lane street so I thought wala naman magkakasya dito sa gilid. Wrong, kasya sumingit ng motor. Lesson learned.

The earlier you signal, the better. General rule sa daan, visible ka, and Alam ng kapwa motorist mo what you're about to do.

Probably in the tollways it is possible although I have had run-ins with drivers who do not want anyone in front of them. The moment I signal to change lanes, no matter how far they are, they flash. And I can’t give way to every dickhead out there who do not want to give up that long space ahead of them. In the city, the moment a car in front of you signals & starts moving into your lane, the best thing to do is just to give way to prevent an accident & so everyone keeps on moving. No use preventing him from changing lanes just because he did not signal at least 15 to 30 seconds.

Those who tailgate at the tollbooth. Iniilawan and binubusinahan ako pag nagstop ako before the barrier with the sign; "next vehicle stop here."

Pag ganun, I stop what I doing and look at the person behind me.

Well, I just ignore them. Sometimes, some of them will have a problem reading their ECTAG so I always give space so that he can back out.

I admit, this is annoying when you are just following rules and regulations.

Accident ba talaga or carelessness ?????

So ako pag may lugar na first time ko puntahan eh old school, minememorize ko dapat daanan or hinto sa fuel station at magtanong directions.. Or pag may kasama ako, sya magcheck sa smartphone nya.

I need my daredevil hearing kung may pararting sa gilid blind spot. Pero syemrpe hindi maiiwasan pag inabot ako sa kalsada eh nakikinig ako pag may laban team ko purefoods so kinig ako sa play by play radio broadcast. Pag walang game syempre FM 98.7 the masters touch.

Totally agree. Specially sa mga motorists na nagmamadali. Busina ng busina, minsan nakakainis na. Well for me, I just ignore those motorists since sinusunod ko lng nmn ung rules.

I’m pissed off with those people who take their time accelerating from a stop.

I'm starting a new habit na kapag nag-green light na, I let the others go first muna.
