    question ko lang... when is the right time to shift gears? like, ilang rpm ba dapat? what are the effects if you shift early or late?
    nag nneutral ba kayo pag may humps o you just shift to lower gear (clutch break)?
    ano pa ba yung mga driving tips na madalas akala ng iba e tama pero hindi pala...?

    a) depends on the gear ratio of your car. usually between 2.0 - 3.0k rpms is ok. i usually shift gears by 2.5k.

    b) depende sa tarik ng humps. may mga humps na constructed na you just glide over it in 3rd gear, pero yung mga humps sa village namin talagang full stop. so balik primera.
    c) isa lang maalala ko...shifting lanes... kala ng mga tao tama, pero actually mali. you should just stay in your lane.....

    hinde ba pwede shift ng lanes?..

    pag humps akin full stop talaga.. sasabit ako pag indi. .hahahaha :lol:

    Bottomline, wag mong pahirapan ang makina mo at wag mo ring pilitin. Mararamdaman mo naman yan e. Kapag hirap ang hatak, you shifted too soon. Kapag mataas ang rev, you shifted too late. Sanayan lang yan.

    ako... i shift whenever i feel like it... :mrgreen: i think in between 2-3k sa rpm...
    ako din lagi shift ng lane... namamadali makauwi. :mrgreen: bawal pala yun????

    hehehe ako mabilis lahat e.....kumain, maglakad....diretso hanggang pag-drive mabilis

    kung pababa, depende basta may engine braking pa....kse kung masyadong low gears parang hirap ang makina e

    kung high gear at low rev...mahihirapan makina, tapos nalulunod pa sa gas.

    pag pababa ako, 2lad sa ayala hts na long stretch, iwan ko lang sa 2ng or 3rd gear. ehehe nakakainis minsan yung mga change lane lagi, gusto lamang or nauuna lagi...minsan ginagawa ko yun pero pag special case lang like pag natatae nako ehehe :lol:

    bottomline, tanchahin mo nalang pag sa humps, depends tlga sa grade and steepness ng humps like what the others said. yung mga humps sa ibang mga villages or sa mga schools (like sa ADMU), kaya 2nd gear derederetso eh.

    Delikado ilagay sa NEUTRAL kung downhill. Save ka ng gas pero hindi na detect ng brake system mo kung may engine load. Mas mahirap mag brake kung biglang kailangan mo. Kung ilalagay mo sa NEUTRAL, make sure na wala kang kasabay. Kung gagawin mo pa din ang style na yan at kailangan mong mag shift or engine brake, rev-match ka muna para easy sa tranny. Ang shifting IMHO, depende sa engine load mo. May pasahero ka ba? Empty ba ang car? shifting early consumes more gas. typical cars right now shifts b/n 2.5 and 3K RPM. Sa humps, depende sa taas ng humps. di ko ginagamit ang 'clutch brake' sayang ang clutch...baka mangamoy pa :mrgreen:

    akala ng iba tama pero mali pala:

    1. Steering wheel hand position
    AAA (American Automobile Association) always advice drivers to have their hands at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock pero recently they modified this to 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock. Kapag may accident or emergency manuevering daw kse, nag react ang driver at nag over-steer kung nasa 10 and 2. Sa 8 and 4, konting kabig lang at hindi mag over steer. Another benefit is that 8 and 4 is easier on the driver's wrist 8) 8 and 4 na style ko ever since I started driving, buti naman iniba na ng AAA.

    mas ok nga yun a 4 & 8 o'clock ang position ako kasi 3 & 9 o'clock.

    jaspi11, kadalasan 8 o'clock lang sakin :mrgreen: unless na nakaramdam ako ng uneven or tight road and para mas safe, 4 & 8 ulit.

    yung tsikot ko kasi walang rpm meter eh. :mrgreen: kaya pinapakinggan ko na lang makina kung kelan dapat kumambyo.

    yung sa humps balik ako 1st gear pag mataas masyado. pag medyo mababa at feeling ko di sasayad shift down ako to 2nd gear.

    bawal pala yang lagi shift ng lane?:mrgreen:

    Ako din 3 and 9 o'clock... try ko yung 4 and 8.

    e masama ba kung nasa 3rd ka tapos shift agad sa 5th? skip yung 4th? dapat ba sunud sunod? kung mabilis naman ang takbo?

    di naman siguro masama pero mas tama yung sunod sunod ang gear kung pa-accelerate, kung decelarating puwede from 4th to 2nd gear esp. when turning sa corners.

    if the engine speed is right, pwede cguro shift up 2 gears i.e. pag sinagad mo sa redline

    CoolGal, pwede basta matched ang RPM and speed mo. (rev-match para smoother) baka mabitin makina kung from 3rd to 5th eh mababa RPM mo bago ka mag shift.

    meron bang certain speed limit per gear? like if youre on 1st gear hanggang 20 lang tapos 2nd hanggan 40 and so on... meron bang ganon? esp. kun ala rpm un car.

    Hindi naman nila malalaman. Ginawa lang law iyon for the safety of the motorists. Hindi para maging source of kotong.

    Sa Subic madali naman hulaan yung naka-neutral kasi idling yung makina (maririnig mo, tahimik sa lugar na iyon) and brake ng brake.
