I was bored one time and did this computation..
Check out how much more mileage an econo car get you, and yes saves you're pocket too.
IF
Unleaded gas * P41
Gas Allowance is P1000
=24.3 Liters of gas right?
*Used the CRV as the base car to compare to the others
*Mixed highway city Driving
Car Type weekly km monthly km diff. yearly km Pesosavings
2004 CRV*7km/l 170 - 680.4 - - 8164.8 - -
2004Altis*9km/l 218.7 - 874.8 - 194.4 - 10,497.6 -10,627.2
2005Jazz*12km/l 291.6 - 1116.4 - 486 - 13,996 - 19,920
Picanto*14km/l 340.2 - 1360.8 - 680.4 - 16329.9 - 23911.2
*soon to be purchased*
With gas prices increasing at .50 weekly you cant go wrong with these econo cars these days..
Sorry if its hard to read.. di ko maayos

Php23911.2 savings is quite something, but of course, this is economy over quality . Seriously, you are sacrificing comfort by getting a picanto over the other cars. For daily ride, especially a short one, this may be acceptable. But when you start factoring in your family, car lifespan/quality, comfort, picanto just doens't make the cut. Jazz, pwede pa, but that's just me though.
BTW, our 2002 Altis J can do 11~12KPL in the City.
I was thinking, kung gusto ko talaga makatipid, why not take a cab, right? Wala ka babayaran na parking and no consumables. But with all the discomfort of commuting, this isn't really an option.

Edit: Ung City 2006 CVT ko can do upto 19 km/l mixed highway ang EDSA traffic. Di ko pa nasusubukan ung super economode.Last edited by bajumbo; May 17th, 2006 at 09:09 AM.

Super economode is 23-25km/l... if you're a freak driver, 29 km/l.
I've heard that the Altis is capable of doing tremendous mileage on one tank... but the Civic 1.7 was still more frugal (didn't get much attention during the ES model, though, because of the City)... the new Civic 1.8 is actually a good balance between fuel efficiency, comfort and power...
Plus Honda's loooooong service intervals save quite a bit of money, and you have to factor that into your equations.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
3M Color Stable series are all above 50% TSER. RFID readable through the tint, stays good for...
What's the best car tint brand and color?
