I've finally seen it. Impressions are:
The Good:
It's a Daihatsu Mira, engine is Daihatsu Mira... complete with Daihatsu peppiness, drive dynamics and economy.
The Philippine fabricated rear seems well-integrated with the JDM front-end. Design-wise, it is tight.
The Bad:
The upholstery could use more volume or more stitches. I would've preferred flat plastic panels on the doors. It would still feel cheap, but it would wear much better.
The bedliner: SPACKLED GRAY?!?... It should be matte black or textured black... If the textured bedliner is too expensive, a simple matte black coat would've cost less than the speckled gray... and would've looked better. Also, the rubber grommets to cover the holes for the "camper-shell" are extremely cheap... but they seem effective.
The dash: should've put some money into making brand new blanks or into covering the holes.
THE UGLY:
Don't get me wrong... I recognize value for money, and this is as close as it gets nowadays, since the AD Resort is gone, but the warranty is pathetic... 6 months or 8,000km? I could get the same warranty from a used car dealer! Actually, maybe better! If Norkis wants more customers, they should offer more security.
I was wondering why I didn't see more of these on the road... despite its warts, it would be EXTREMELY USEFUL. It just seems we are spoiled for choices, and many consumers nowadays are conscious of the bottom line. A warranty that short does not justify a brand new purchase, and makes build quality dubious.
