how to know if the airbag is still working??

say for 15years, no accident happened, how can you tell when your airbag will still deploy??do we need to replace it or the casa has some sort of tester??

I'm not an expert, but from what I know ...

Depending on the manufacturer, they should last 10-15 years. Whenever you start the engine, the ECU diagnostics include the SRS. If it doesn't find a fault, it will deploy when it has to. Whether it will deploy properly inflated or not (due to material degradation) - is the reason IMO why airbags have a lifespan.

usually they just use an ECU scanner to check if there is a fault code. Minsan nababangga ka pero kiss lang, hinde sha magde-deploy pero pag pinacheck mo sa ECU may error code. Ire-reset lang yun, pag nabura ok na, pag hinde nabura then that means there's something wrong.

There's only 1 way to find out... Hehehe.
Pero mahirap nga yan. At least yung ABS matetesting mo, itong airbags magtitiwala ka na lang sa mga warning sensors nya sa dash mo gaya ng nabanggit nila.

tignan mo yung sa sun visor (ito ba tawag dun)? mo sa taas ng driver side may parang manual dun na nakadikit na sinasabi: children below 5 years old should not seat in the front passenger side, tapos yung last sa listahan is nakalagay na kapag hindi nagamit yung airbag in 10 years time, have it check sa casa and every year there after.

You can have it checked through your vehicle's diagnostic port when you're at the dealer. Annual checks start when your airbags reach 10 years old.

Otherwise, there's not much you can do. The parts of the airbag system are mostly durable (the contacts are even gold plated). The explosives are inert when separated. There's really not much that can go with them. And if something does, the warning light will illuminate.

ganyan talaga basta more than 10years old na sasakyan, you wonder if some parts will just give up such as the airbag...yan kapalit ng depreciation na advantage sa 2nd or 3rd hand buyer

Chances are it should work, since airbags aren't made by the car manufacturer but a separate company. Airbags from an S class MB w126 still worked, and those are 20+ years old already.

yeah, usually the ABS sensor on your dashboard will light up if something's wrong with your airbag. unless of course someone's tampered with your sensor...

electronic type airbag systems have an indicator in the dash, but some mechanical type airbags don't. ganito yung driver side airbag ng ae101 corolla Gli (96-97). paano kaya malalaman if it still works or not? (except yung obvious na paraan) hahaha

You won't know if the airbag will work until you'll need it. For now, just pray that it will work.

OT: FYI; just incase lang..yellow corrugated tube is usually used to mark the harness of the airbag.
