It is hard to consider the Miata/MX-5 (as a flop) because it is a two door convertible sports car. It might not have sold in big numbers but it was not expected to sell in big numbers anyway.

The pinoy20somethings are stuck with fast&furious in their minds. But the same pinoy20something mostly wouldn't have the financial resources to buy a new car today anyway.

So probably the pinoy40to50somethings would be buying the SOUL 1.6L for their pinoy20something kids then.

How would you say that? Although I dont see much Cruzes on the road up to today (if at all), I think its too early to say such for the Cruze.

Too bad for them. The Soul 1.6L is pretty quick and handles well.

    0-100kph: (local instrumented testing)
    Soul 1.6L 4A/T = 12.3 seconds
    Corolla 1.6L A/T = 13 seconds
    Chevy Cruze 1.8L 6A/T = 13.2 seconds

The GM Opels were not flops .... (case in point argument here)

The cars were briskly selling during those early months ... when Opel was the proverbial "new kid on the block" ... and it banked on classic German Opel reliability .. (the 80's Rekord's, Manta's, Ascona's, Berlina's) ...

BUT ... after record high sales ... remember when almost everyone you knew had a Vectra, or an Astra ... heck, my uncle even bought an Omega ... they really messed up on one key important thing ..

DEALER AFTER SALES SUPPORT ... (Customer Satisfaction, Parts, Service)

and as they say ... the rest is history.

Though IIRC ... I think they had one re-badged korean car that was a flop ... the Chevrolet Cassia .. and the Opel Zafira.

Even my brother had two of them, Opel Astra (wagon) and Opel Omega. Both cars were at the casa having something fixed or repaired every month or so. Battery goes flat if you leave it for two days without warming up the engine.

Too early to tell. So far, the Cruze has a good sized following, better than the Optra i guess.

Well to early at this point but compared to the crappy Optra that actually sold better. But it was also the Optra's fault why the Cruze is having a hard time...

How about the Chevy Captiva? Initially it sold modestly well, then after awhile parang wala na. Discounts galore pero wala pa rin... Natabunan na ng Tucson, Santa Fe and the other crossovers...

Pero NMPI talaga ang hari ng FLOP! Yung Sentra 200 nila pag pasok pa lang sa market FLOP na!

The local GM brand has found a saviour in the name of The Covenant Car Company .. (or something like that).. headed by the former topman of Volvo .. (Scandinavian Cars) .. no other than Atty. Albert Arcilla. .. which again we all know is the point person of Richard Lee in this endeavor ..

I hope the Lee magic brings back luster to the tainted image of GM ...

Anybody remember Lion Motors?.... the local importer for Peugeot? It was another Lee project .. headed by no other than Mimi Lee ... the very attractive daughter of Richard Lee. But alas .. a shortlived endeavor too ...

For the price of a base Peugeot 201 ... you can roughly buy 2 Hyundai Getz's ... (yup .. another Lee company) ....

    Konting trivia lang ..

The Chevrolet Cassia is one BIG flop. A few units exist on the road. The Lumina is also a flop.... as in Major Major

Peugeot. Every single unit. - looks are too european for Filipinos too appreciate. Brand is not too common for non-car enthusiasts. After sales sucks.

Kia Mohave - Expensive. Bland. The Sorento even looks better.

Hyundai i30 - looks nice. Price sucks.

    Suzuki SX4 - hehehe. need I say more ?

    Early hyundai's ( azera's, elantra's etc. etc. )

Honda HRV - i hardly see one on the road

The porsches & audis sell quite well. Don't know about the Maserati though, never seen one. The Jaguars, er ... newest one and the most common one i've been seeing lately are the X & S-types.

    I found the ride acceptible.

    8km/L for the 2.0L A/T is average.
