recently na-discover ko na nagkaka-small blisters ako sa kamay. trust me it wasn't because i was too lonely hehehe. na-realize ko na mahigpit masyado kapit ko sa manibela. ang solusyon nga daw either get a steering cover (which is kinda baduy) or get gloves (which is kinda weird). parang di ko lang maatim magsuot ng gloves kahit makakabuti. di ba parang feeling?

i don't wear gloves while driving that is why may hands are full of kalyo.

when i was supervising a survey in central luzon, our driver (who really looks like brutus from the popeye cartoons :D) wore a glove on one hand. i asked him why.

he said that it is to prevent kalyo which becomes quite painful during long drives.

Depends on which one of my cars I use on a particular day kasi I have one that's got a good grip around the whole wheel while my pick-up has this slippery, plastic feel.

But for good measure, I always wear my leather gloves that I've had for years during long trips para sure ang kapit!

When I drove 7000ft into the mountains for a fun run with some friends, the temperatures dropped and when I checked the glovebox I only had one glove - I must have misplaced the other! Buti na lang malakas heater ko nun pero we had to get out of the cars to take pics kaya nakabulsa yung isa kong kamay OT pero somewhat related hehehe

Gloves? Maybe in a go-kart. Actually, I do wear gloves when I'm go-karting.

In a car traveling on a highway? Nope. All my cars have had leather -wrapped steering wheels. So gloves aren't needed, even when I used to drive 19 hours straight. I know a few who do wear gloves just for show. I think they've watched too many "The Transporter" movies.

I did pero bumabaho yung kamay ko. Hindi ata maganda interaction with the leather.

Nababanat pa yung skin sa ibabaw ng kuko ko. Ang hapdi minsan.

Seems like I'm the only one here who wears gloves when driving.

I started using gloves last December. At first it felt weird since wearing gloves restricted my fingers and the feel of the steering wheel was thicker. But after a few days it already felt natural that I made it a habit to use gloves everytime I drive.

    My reasons for wearing gloves:
    1. To prevent blisters since my hands blister easily
    2. Hygiene

Not to make a big deal out of this. But, I'm trying to picture how someone can get blisters just from driving. I can see someone getting blisters if the vehicle they're driving is some kind of huge truck with no power steering and the wheel alignment is so horrible it swerves as soon as you let go of the wheel. You're constantly battling to keep the truck straight on the road.

But a car...... Gee, my 06 Hyundai Sonata is a big and heavy car. But I can drive it with one right thumb and index finger on the steering wheel while my left arm is draped over the open window and me trying to look cool.

My chances of getting blisters are far greater handling exercise machines in the gym.

So should you recommend people to wear gloves if their car isnt equipped with power steering?

If it's hard to keep straight and level plus if the steering wheel is barren and smooth like those in jeepneys and cargo trucks. Sure, why not. Have you seen a jeepney driver's palms?

But cars? Unless you plan to do some reckless driving (like a jeepney driver), I doubt you'll need gloves. Hmmm. They do drive reckless, don't they?

Add: So for me, no gloves. But shades? Darn right. Someone should start a "Do you wear shades while driving?" thread.

The shades can also be a show-off part... hehehe...

Both gloves and shades give advantages...

I don't wear one. Maybe I would if my car is a sports car.
