from an explanation i read some time back,
the writer said that the bullbar may nullify whatever safety features the stock vehicle was designed with.
i fear for the pedestrian and the other vehicle...
but there is a difference between "illegal" and "of poor judgement".
some vehicles are designed to "give", in case of head-on collision.
it can diffuse the potential injury to both driver/passenger, and to the pedestrian.
yes, a bullbar may spare the vehicle from further damage ($!),
but knowing just how expensive hospitalization for a broken bone can be ($$$!!),
i figure, fixing the vehicle several times is still cheaper than that hospitalization.
