They have diesel variants for almost everything in Europe... though Honda is not known for building diesel engines, even the Civic has a 1.7d variant over there.

1.3 liter and smaller displacement diesels are becoming more common. And it's a good idea... same HP as 1.3 gas, with more torque... makes driving more enjoyable.
