    Hi guys,

Foton has announced their ambulance model costing P950,000.00

It looks like a Hi-Ace Clone.

    My question is:

Without any reliability background as of the moment, would you trust it to take you to the hospital during an emergency?

A brand new Mitsubishi L300 Ambulance is cheaper for only P700k... I know its based on an old model, but at least it's been known to be reliable. I think the Hyundai Starex and Nissan Urvan Ambulance Models are also priced closely to the Foton.

That's kinda expensive for Foton... especially since their trucks are so cheap.

If it's an original Isuzu engine... it might be okay,, but the price is just way too much, unless it comes from the manufacturer fully equipped with emergency equipment.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

If it were the one to respond immediately of course I would.

The van is only half of the equation. The life saving equipment inside is more important, they have to be complete especially for trauma cases and cardiovascular emergencies. Even 'branded' ambulances can conk-out if the maintenance intervals are also not met properly.

I would rather have the Nissan Urvan Ambulance although it is priced at P1.14M

This actually got me thinking ...

    • Off hand I'd say it depends on the maintenance. Even if its a multi-million peso Mercedes Benz van, but if its poorly maintained then its useless.
    • The equipment inside the van coupled with a well trained and experienced paramedic riding in the ambulance. We have a lot of good paramedics, unfortunately, most of them are already working abroad. Those still here are either simply gaining experience or waiting for their visas.
    • Most of the big hospitals use their ambulances as glorified limousine service. So what's the point?

well kung na aksidente ka or inatake ka sa puso, i don't think mamimili ka pa ng ambulance... baka kahit sa tricycle sumakay ka makarating ka lang sa hospital eh.. maybe may mga medical equipments included dyan kaya medyo pricey... and considering its a truck based, matibay naman yan lalo na kung for emergency use lang.. dapat din matulin ang ambulance na yan kasi kung malayo ang byahe at makupad eh bale wala, patay na yung pasyente bago dumating sa hospital...

OT: I remember one time sa SLEX meron ambulance na nagmamadali (L300) and i'm driving a kia carnival, medyo pa ekis ekis yung ambulance para sumingit, and then i tried kung talagang mabilis kasi ambulance nga eh... kaso hindi umabot sa van ko hehehe, yung mga starex na ambulance mabibilis din..
