Kung crunch time na, I can't afford to be choosy. I'd even take a cab as long as it's fast enough to get to the hospital in time.

Huwag lang talagang ma-contaminate ng melamine yung medical equipment sa loob ng Foton ambulance.

yes it is an ambulance model but the medical equipment that will be placed in it will not come from the van’s manufacturer so really depends of the would be owner / hospital etc.

re the reliability? that’s a brand new unit complete with warranty and I don’t think ganun ka delikado yan. yes, in a situation where life and death is on the line kahit anong sasakyan paparahin mo para madala sa pinaka malapit na ospital ang pasyente.

Dito sa St. Luke’s, paluma na mga MB 100s at Urvans. Grand Starex at Super Grandia ang current use.

O.T. Arlington Memorial has Starex, St. Peter has Chevy Suburbans and Paz has Urvan Escapades…. But they don’t need speed right?

Well... I don't think the drivetrain itself would give out... most problems with Chinese... and Foton in particular... is the soft underchassis... that's why the source of the engine is important. If it's a licensed Isuzu powertrain (didn't Foton offer their trucks in two flavors? isuzu engines or Chinese engines?), it should be relatively okay... but the price itself, compared to the competition, is sort of ridiculous.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

We have 3 kinds of ambulances: The first is the "Paramedic Ambulance" which we often see on the 911 TV show. These are huge ambulances usually 6-wheelers powered by v6 engines. They have a paramedic staff and a whole bunch of equipment for resuscitation and all. Current Philippine users are usually government: PAGCOR, DILG (shows up when there's a fire), PGH (donated), etc. Makati Med used to have one of these, but I think they've been losing money, so I no longer see this around. FEU has one but only for training of their Paramedic students in their 2-year Paramedic course offering.

The next type is the "Transfer Ambulance", it is used to transfer ambulances from one hospital to the other. These are the most common type of ambulance used in the Philippines. They contain only a stretcher, and an oxygen tank. The staff can consist of a driver and a nurse. A doctor may or may not be needed depending on the case of the patient being delivered. PCSO donates this type a lot. This is the type where the Foton Ambulance falls in. I find it too expensive considering that they only placed a stretcher, oxygen tank, and a few shelves.

The third type of ambulance is the type used by funeral parlors to pick up dead people from the hospital. It used to be the "Hearse", the long cars carrying coffins that would pick up patients. However, it doesnt look good to see such vehicles arriving and parking at the hospital. As such, funeral parlors were asked to "disguise" their vehicles as ambulances. These usually have a stretcher, and the staff is simple a driver and a helper.

Speed is not necessarily the most important trait of an ambulance. We've tried driving our ambulances fast before, but many patients get dizzy and throw up during the ride. Right now, our priority is getting the patient to the next hospital in the most stable condition.

Warranty is not an indication of reliability. It is only an assurance of service from the manufacturer.

Ok naman sya as an ambulance dahil based sa lumang Hiace Commuter ang chassis at engine nya(direct injection nga lang)..

Sana ibenta dito ng Chery yung Chery Riich 8 which is just a Hiace Commuter LWB na bubble-top(yung bagong Hiace ha!!)

Makati med has since outsourced its ambulance to a private entity. Makati med ambulance responses always include a transport officer, registered nurse, and licensed physician. And all ambulances assigned to MMC are advanced life support units. That's the MMC Ambulance I'm standing in front of in my signature pic. Shot while waiting for an airlifted patient to arrive at NAIA (tarmac pick up).
