September 12th, 2018 12:57 PM #7271I fancy the looks of the everest. More conventional. Better than the montero, IMO. I also actually like the interior better than the other PPV's. As for my friend, the reason he did not get the everest as I understand it, are "issues", which he did not go into detail, but which are mostly connected to electronics.
As for the "best" out there, I think my friend made it clear when he said, any except the blazer & the everest. So for him, it's the mux, fortuner or montero. He has no opinion on the terra.
Thanks for your input, sir, regarding the Trend variant. Will look at that if/when I go to see the dealer.

September 13th, 2018 12:04 AM #7272Asked my friend again why he did not get the everest. It turns out it was issue of electrical fire which ford is notorious for. He sent me this link.
Why are so many Fords catching fire? — Auto Expert by John Cadogan - save thousands on your next new car!
And in quotes below, highlights are his.
"That’s a total of seven official Ford fire safety recalls - just the fire ones - here in Australia. Only for post-2010 vehicles. The ones we know about, on an honour system that allows carmakers to bullshit and obfuscate as they please - sometimes for months on end, seemingly."
"Well designed cars simply do not catch fire. One or two fire risk recalls is an example of a mainstream carmaker tidying up a few loose ends. Seven different fire recalls covering 58,000 Ford vehicles is a disgracefully unjustifiable advertisement for poor engineering and not giving a **** about the safety of your customers."

Just be like everybody else and buy a toyota hehe
Pero seriously Kami when we were shopping for an SUV before TRAIN, comparing them at our pricepoint, spec by spec, lamang ang everest. Safety features alone sulit na compared to the other brands. Sure marami siyang electronics but thats why you have warranty naman. And sa tagal na nasa market nung everest wala naman nagreklamo na electrical related (so far)
Just wait for the updated engine and tranny before you buy kung hindi naman nagmamadali.

Dumating na daw parts. AT transmission oil pump talaga sira.
Common issue ata ito sa 6r80 transmission. Hmmm. Madami akong nababasa pump failure sa internet pero non everest but 6r80 transmission.
Ano kaya posibleng collateral damage if nasira ang pump?

He's sort of an oddball... can't take him seriously sometimes. He offers more opinion than actual...
