Broken piston 1.5L ecoboost

The casa did not mention anything about a piston pin being damaged. They only found damage to the ringland and the cylinder was also damaged, and they think the PCV valve is faulty. Also carbon deposits were found on the intake valves and inside the cylinder itself.

I’m thinking maybe some of the carbon deposits on the intake valves chipped off and went into the cylinder and created detonation. As you suggested, an oil catch can will indeed help to prevent carbon build up. People are doing this to most ecoboost engines in the US, matagal na pala. I will bring this up with the casa, hopefully they will permit the installation and not void the warranty.

Curiously as I have researched, Honda’s turbo GDI does not seem to have problems with carbon build up with the intake valves... I think it has to do with the placement of the fuel injector.

They said that the engine number will have to be changed in the LTO. Pero di pa kami nag usap kung sino mag aasikaso. I will ask them if they will do it or would it have to be us. Palagay ko kami yan.

Just got it back yesterday. Been driving it, no problems so far... Hopefully the engine doesn’t crap itself again.

However, those mechanics managed to f*** up the front bumper by leaving 2 very deep scratches.. they also left their dirty handprints on the headliner. Still, the casa offered to repaint the whole panel.

I haven’t told them about their mechanics putting their dirty hands on the headliner yet since I just noticed it this day. Will call the service manager tomorrow, tanong ko bakit marumi magtrabaho mekaniko nila. 😂

You sir are totally right. Just called them, they denied it... they said they cleaned the interior before returning the unit. I will talk to them in person and show the mess they made.
