We conduct tests for shell life of food products, my opinion, when the label say expired na, expired na talaga at wag na kainin.

I don't buy canned goods and processed food, that includes milk and butter. So, pretty much nothing to bother about expiry dates. Everything is fresh. Although, I hate it when vegetables get wasted because it spoils in 3-5 days. So, I do my best to buy it and consume on the same day.

Eggs are little bit tricky. If you fill a bowl of water and if the egg floats, it's already expired.

    ^ point taken.

i meant noodles, biscuits, tea. wag naman masyado luma...a few months after expiry should still be ok, usually conservative naman yung expiry date. i was surprised to learn a few years back that they auction off expired food...how can they not be sued ?

perhaps it is made clear to the customers, that the food is expired.
perhaps the buyers are in the business of turning these expired foods into food for livestock and such.

Some near expiry foods are a great source of savings for us, ex. Johnsonville Brats, expiry in 2 weeks, buy 1 take 1 or effectively half price, bringing the price lower than top local Frankfurter brands and with definitely better taste and bite. Bought 6 bundles, lasting us for more than 3 months.

We treat expiry dates as guides, but, food that has gone bad is a clear no no, expired or not. Like Gardenia bread, our experience is it gets moldy even 2 days before it gets expired. Thus, with expiry date as a guide, we place it in the ref 2 days before it expires and eat it for as long as it hasn't gone bad.

we store our bread in the ref. it is still mold-less, even a week after expiration (total of 2 weeks from purchase). we take pains to make sure the hand that is thrust into the bag is clean and devoid of mold.

I'm watching this vlogger who is doing a clean up of his ref. I was appalled that he was throwing away food that were less than one month expired at it was refrigerated (pastries) I eat expired food because my Mom always lectures me about my expired chocolate and chips etc so I show her that I still eat it HAHAHA! Ang delikado yung canned and dairy but otherwise I am not too strict about dates

And because of that matibay sikmura ko LOL
