Beer is not meant to be drank in large quantities. It is supposed to be enjoyed while eating or maybe during breaks.
If you want the kick of strong booze, go with vodka or gin or whisky or rum or tequila. If you want to get wasted, drown yourself with absinthe. Hahahaha

When I’m out, I usually start it with beer just before eating dinner then light cocktails or wine to go with your food. Later on, the stronger cocktails and neat booze takes the show.
On happy hours, in places with lots of beer options, start out with light beers before diving to the stronger ales or stouts.
When out for lunch, lagers or pilsners only as I find them better over soda.

Sorry, I'm not a specific alcoholic drink lover.
Since we're talking about spirits, how do you find Korean sojus?
It is indicated in their bottles that they are the no.1 selling spirit in the world.
What is your take on this?
Personally, I still find that beer is best with meals. Hard drinks are for "inuman" talaga wherein you intend you be "drunk".
Just recently tried soju (about the same time I watched kdramas). Beer is more refreshing but also much more filling.
Soju kahit makarami ka you don't feel bloated. And di naman siya super hard, it's like wine lang (13% alcohol vs beer's 5%).
If you don't like the gin-like feeling of soju, pair it with yakult. It becomes a leisurely drink, Korean equivalent of gin-pom.

Has anyone tried Hitachino? Is it good?

Never heard of it and never tried it. However, Hitachino Nest White Ale scores high marks (outstanding) at the Beer Advocates site so it must be really good. I might look for one just to taste it.
